Little evidence of the medieval palace, Baynard’s Castle, survives on its site close to Blackfriars in London. There’s a very hard to spot blue plaque, a street name, a multi-storey car park and an exceptionally ugly office building called Baynard House. The palace was destroyed in the Great Fire of London in 1666. It was particularly associated with the House of York, with Richard III proclaimed as king there in 1483 #baynardscastle #richardiii #greatfireoflondon
