The Nelson Mandela Foundation is honoured to announce that human rights lawyer and UN Special Rapporteur Francesca Albanese (@FranceskAlbs) will deliver the 23rd Nelson Mandela Annual Lecture on 25 October 2025 at Wits University. This year’s theme, Enhancing Peace and Global Cooperation, draws on Nelson Mandela’s 2003 call for multilateral action in the face of rising conflict and inequality. We are proud to continue partnering with @WitsUniversity in bringing this important dialogue to life. Registration details for in-person attendance will be shared in due course. #NelsonMandela #HumanRights #NMAL2025 #NMAL #NMAL25

The child Nafez Mohammed Nasser, 10 years old, weighs only 9 kilograms (approximately 19.8 pounds) due to severe malnutrition and a deteriorating health condition. He also has a disability and is not receiving any effective treatment, despite being moved between several hospitals

If you listen to anything today let it be this. I had the pleasure of speaking and having individual meetings with @francesca.albanese two years ago. In her capacity as Special Rapporteur. Everything you, we, are seeing through our screen is 100% her; honest, emphatic, fierce, moral and a staunch supporter for human rights everywhere. All of this answer needs to be heard around the world. All of it: "Israel has conducted an attack, an unprecedented attack....now especially after the Knesset passed a law outlawing Unrwa... This is the nail in the coffin of the UN charter." As someone whose career is dedicated to diplomacy, and has worked for and with the UN. I could not agree more with her words.

It’s rare to see buildings without damage or total destruction anymore. Any building fully intact stands out. Hundreds of thousands of homes & lives destroyed. Stories of children, mothers, fathers, even entire families still buried underneath rubble. Cities are now graveyards.
