Developer productivity is often measured in output: lines of code, number of commits, features delivered. With AI tools accelerating production, these metrics become even more tempting to rely on. But output is not productivity. Writing more code faster doesn’t mean building better systems. In many cases, it increases complexity and future maintenance costs. True productivity is the ability to reduce unnecessary work, not to produce more of it.

Not sure if this has been explored before. Explicit type annotation in typescript makes the code ugly. So I'm thinking of an idea to embed the type annotation in the variable name itself. Triple underscore to separate the variable name and type. So wherever you use the variable you know the type without depending on the editor assistance. A small library will split the type annotation from the variable and compare to show the type mismatch error. This approach will: 1) Make the variables editor friendly. 2) Typing triple underscore will trigger the type suggestions. But annotating complex json/javascript objects will be tricky.
