We've shipped more than a thousand versions of Zed, but all of them began with zero. Today, that changes. zed.dev/blog/zed-1-0

@ItsRoboki Interesting. We fixed or so we thought a windows specific issue in 1.0. Would you mind filing a GitHub issue with logs etc and I will have the team take a look

#RandomDevPost This team cooked. I'm picky with code editors and IDEs. I've lived in Neovim since college when I created Tropical Tidbits. VSCode or agentic forks of VSCode have been endlessly frustrating in terms of performance, interactions between key mappings and focused UI elements, or being vendor-locked into a specific agent harness. My first impression of Zed is that I can solve all of these problems. You can feel the effects of Rust-based UI on performance, you can bring your own agent, you can fully customize keymaps and UI behavior in a way that actually works, and its sane defaults seamlessly integrate with local environments. This is not an ad/sponsorship - I'm just genuinely excited to come across a tool this functional and adaptable to the rapidly-evolving way in which I do development work. Kudos to the team!

@aref_vc You can pass -n to open a new window on the CLI and also configure the default behavior. We’re trying to help you use the new parallel agents sidebar and not have to manage a bunch of windows but everyone’s workflow is different.

what happened to @zeddotdev with the new release ? used to have different projects running in different windows and now opening a new one closes / shuts down the others ? is there something I missed or did wrong?

For our yearly meetup, we spent the week in Rome, and we had a phenomenal time together. We timed our 1.0 launch to land during this week so we could be together when we hit the button. Now, as we all fly back to our homes around the world, we're feeling both proud to have this milestone in our rearview and excited to show you the next era of Zed. Big things coming! Cheers

@paperbenni @baseten Because some people just want an easy way to use AI in Zed, and this enables that. We have a lot to build and openrouter and others already do a great job

@zeddotdev @baseten What is the point of zed pro if what it essentially is is API credits which expire monthly? Why not open your own openrouter like thing?

Would you buy Zed Pro if we added open source models from our friends at @baseten
Amario@amariokoro

@zeddotdev why not add open source models from american inference companies to the subscription you provide, that way the 10$ would actually be worth it espcially for students

@shareastronomy @baseten yep that's already part of the Pro plan - this would just be expanding the model family available

@zeddotdev @baseten Yes. Since it would be token based would we have the ability to see current spend or set a max limit?

@knotbin @baseten That would not change. Just more cost effective with what’s included given OS model costs

@knotbin @baseten Yes it does. Just like existing pro we would bill api pricing +10%, no limit mechanic

@zeddotdev @baseten Yo should do some like OpenCode Go/Zen. 5h/weekly limits for open source cheap models and pay as you go for frontier models. Currently Zed pro is the less value per dollar of all subscriptions. I was with you before the change

@zeddotdev @baseten You could partner with OpenCode Go to bring cheap models with a fast and beautiful UI
