South Africa’s unemployment rate sits above 30%. GDP growth has been sluggish for a decade. The intention behind BEE is correcting historic injustice — that’s undeniable. But the metric that matters most isn’t who gets hired. It’s whether those hired are being set up to thrive, earn more, build wealth, and close the gap permanently. Policy without economic mobility is just paperwork.
