@CTULocal1 who's "rich"? I live in a rich neighborhood, but am not rich, and @fritz4assessor just doubled my property taxes and added $500 to my monthly mortgage bill. Are we trying to clear the middle class out of nice neighborhoods and make them playgrounds for millionaires?

@cornoisseur Kaegi just double my property taxes, now I'll pay hundreds of dollars more in escrow every month than I do in principal or interest. I'm not a millionaire, & I can't afford the city jumping up my mortgage like this, nor can my apartment possibly be worth what they've assessed

Hynes is a creature of the previous era, that was rife with corruption. Backed by the commercial real estate lobby, who wants to keep their share of the tax levy low.

CTU fights to keep empty schools open. That’s a disservice to the kids. Those resources should be consolidated.

@KazooFunky @hkappklote yep, our homicide rate is below the national avg and our clearance rate for everything else is way below. CPD has made it so if you bet on committing a crime in Chicago, odds are well in your favor that you'll get away with it.

@KazooFunky @hkappklote CPD is over 2 billion dollars and for that we get considerably less than a 50% clearance rate on almost all crimes. Is it less than CPS's budget? Yes. But still an awful, indefensible ROI.

We have a consent decree. Cops have been convicted of crimes. More could be done but it will not effect the budget.
The reality is compared to CPS the police budget is a small % of Chicago OpEx.
