@RichardBurgon Don't you mean a stitch up by his own MPs like you. You are the one that needs to go, so resign immediately you despicable man and take @CatherineWest1 with you, we don't want or need people like you on the party.

Lots of people are asking me what is going on with all the Labour leadership speculation. So I’ll say it publicly here. There appears to be an attempt to exploit, for their own ends, Catherine West’s understandable alarm over the catastrophic election results and the dire state the Labour Party is in. Their aim is to bounce the party into a snap leadership contest limited to people who sat in the Cabinet and stayed silent while this Government carried out the very policies that have done such enormous damage and been a gift to Reform. Labour cannot renew itself through a stitch-up by those responsible for the crisis we now face, including the danger of a Trump-style government. Keir must go. But we only get one chance to get this right. So he should set a timetable to stand aside, with a new leader in place by the ends of the year. This would allow for a proper democratic leadership contest with a full range of candidates and a serious debate about how Labour changes course, the policies needed to rebuild support and how we stop Nigel Farage getting the keys to Downing Street.

@Sweettalkin53 They still have to declare any donations for the previous 12 months regardless of whether they are political or not.

The gift was made in 2024, before Farage had announced his candidacy for Clacton. He was, at that point, a private citizen. Not a candidate. Not an MP. A private citizen. Parliamentary rules on declarations of interest apply to Members of Parliament. Political donation rules apply to donations made in support of political activity. A personal gift to a private individual , before that individual has even entered an election, falls into neither category. Reform’s description of it as an “exempt, personal, unconditional gift” isn’t a line. It’s the legal position. Shove that where the sun doesn't shine @MikeTappTweets

Fair point but I think it’s the hypocrisy that grates people so if someone is consistent with what they believe in (ie: low taxes, deregulation, free markets, free speech etc etc) and then lives their own life along those same lines I don’t believe it’s a problem for most people. Which is what my initial point was - that generally the public are not bothered by this donation. You may not agree but I think that’s the gist of what the average person thinks on the matter.

COULD FARAGE FACE A BY-ELECTION? The Electoral Commission is being urged to probe Farage's £5million donation. His enemies hope that could trigger a suspension & by-election If that happens, surely he'd stomp to an even bigger victory, with "Establishment v Trump" vibes Farage's foes will do anything they can to stop him becoming Prime Minister. Expect much, much more of this observer.co.uk/news/politics/…

@open_rocking @MartinDaubney The general public do care, if he can't be honest now as an MP what is he going to be like as PM? Farage wants to be taken seriously , but refuses to be upfront and honest.

@RichardBurgon I'm so thankful that neither you @RichardBurgon or @CatherineWest1 are my MP, you are such a disappointment and should resign immediately, I hope you both and anyone else following in your footsteps all lose the whip. You definitely wouldn't get my vote next time round .

Keir Starmer needs to go. But not through a Cabinet stitch-up or palace coup. And not through a snap leadership election run under rule changes designed by Morgan McSweeney/Labour Together in order to hand someone like Wes Streeting a coronation. My full interview on Sky.

Name her and shame her. @CatherineWest1 is calling for a vote of no confidence in Starmer and says she's got 10 people backing her. Sack her now. Call her out. A traitor. She's trying to destroy the party and the country. Shame on her.

Gordon Brown sold 395 tonnes of our gold reserves at the bottom of the market, and - stupidly - told the market in advance. Gold has since risen 1500% and the gold he sold would be worth £40 billion more today. Now Starmer brings him back as his Finance Envoy. A sick joke

Today I’m pleased to appoint @GordonBrown as my Special Envoy on Global Finance and Cooperation. As Britain’s longest-serving Chancellor, Gordon is well placed to work with our international allies to build a stronger Britain and boost our country’s security and resilience.

@alexbloodfire @MikeTappTweets So because Farage says its a gift with no political ties we should just take him at his word and not ask questions. If that's the case why wasn't it declared, if he has nothing to hide.

The £5 million gift? Totally private, no political strings attached—so Nigel Farage has done nothing wrong at all! Now, on the topic of those whose time may be running out, I can’t help but think that Keir Starmer’s days are definitely numbered. I have a strong feeling he’ll be out of the picture sooner rather than later!

@crushed422 @johnredwood What attacks on free speech? There's plenty of free speech on X all day, every day, you just have to know the difference between free speech and hate speech. As for digital ID I don't have a problem with it, I've just paid £94 for a passport I wont be using except for ID

Labour are not the change people want. They did not vote to face higher taxes, to give away overseas territories, to run down the navy, to push up unemployment with a jobs tax and regulations, to close High Street businesses and family farms, to have dearer energy.

@barton76327 @johnredwood @Elizabe13014545 Open air internment camps quick and easy to build, sleep in tents all weathers, in USA and lowest re-offending rate prison makes them wear pink overalls, sleep in tents and chain gang work everyday. Something drastic needs to be done as lawless Britain is collapsing.

@barton76327 @johnredwood They don’t deserve the full 5 years as they lied continuously to get elected, and then lied even more when they did! I remember Keir Starmer saying the opposite about Brexit! “Democracy is ever evolving” is what he said! This government is shambolic & now they’re out of ideas!

@johnredwood Yes, we need a General Election now. Labour lost big time as Democracy means giving people a say - not blocking dissent, censoring social media, and edging back towards the EU without a referendum. Let alone the other things you’ve mentioned. They’ve damaged this country!

@Goosey30111568 Just like Zia Yusuf, not an MP never has been but feel he has the right to dictate to the British people. Just shows how shallow the Reform pool is, either unelected or failed Tories.

Bringing in Gordon Brown, an unelected ex PM. Who is now 75% fossilised. And Harman who's a Paedo Symp. Isn't going to save his skin. It's a desperate move. From a PM in the Bunker. It also highlights how shallow the talent pool of Labour MP's and Ministers is.

Like Starmer tries to project himself as “working class”! His father was a “toolmaker” who owned his own company. Toolmakers were the highest paid workers as it is a highly skilled job. His grandfather owned a farm. Starmer went to a fee paying school. Yes, on a scholarship but he didn’t “have to mix” with the riff-raff at secondary school!! He’s now a multi millionaire and has a huge private pension set up especially for him from his CPS days. It is simply nonsense to say he’s “working class”.

Right, you Reform voting fuckwits, here’s your leader, @Nigel_Farage trying to appear like an ordinary bloke down the pub with a pint in one hand and a copy of the Sun in the other. Here’s a few facts for you. 1 He is the son of a well known stockbroker. 2 He was a Dulwich schoolboy. 3 He worked in the City for 18 years mostly as a commodities broker. 4 A billionaire has recently given him £5 million, others have donated huge sums too. So, do really think he gives a flying fuck about you or your life? No, of course he doesn’t. In fact, you are little more than excrement under his feet and you are such a thick piece of shit you cannot even see it. He is USING you. I despair.

Keir has faced his last election as leader. We need a timetable for a smooth transition this year. But leadership alone isn’t the issue. The policies driving Starmer’s unpopularity must change too. A reset means substance, not just a new face. We must return to our Labour roots.
