How many more lines does Toby deem important that we are overlooking because we can't read his mind? How easy is it to juggle localization for multiple languages on top of game dev?

@binomiko @ImtheSpicyman @LazyNick5 A lot of simple lines in the game would translate 1-1 into spanish. Aside from lines of significant importance, which toby can point out, a majority of the lines could be translated really easily.

Toby needs to convey his ideas to the team, each translated sentence needs to be considered in the context of the story, every sentence needs to be run by Toby and translators need to justify their choices to him

@binomiko @ImtheSpicyman @LazyNick5 Determination in Spanish is determenacion. there's a difference between translating to Japanese and to other Anglo languages. "Determination" comes from French. The name Noelle is French. There is far more leniency with translating to Spanish than Japanese.

Translating to the standards of the original artist is not something that can be solved by just throwing money at it

He thinks players will not receive "the point" he intended for his game unless he works closely with a localization team to nail down the meaning as accurately as possible

Lots of artists have quirks about their work, Toby's perfectionism with regards to how the message is expressed in the text is just one example

Could he compromise his artistic vision to appease a wider audience? Absolutely, many developers feel little to no sacrifices are made when providing a translation.

This requires precise control over what makes it into the final product and lots of back and forth w/ translators

No matter what team he hires, he needs to spend time working closely with them to meet those bars. A significant amount of thought goes into localizing even specific words

(1/2) It's not a personal attack, & they've been open they want to translate Deltarune into a ton of different languages in the future. But Toby Fox only knows English & Japanese to give his personal oversight to, & two languages+all the different platforms makes it a huge hurdle
