Something I would be very curious to test is to see comparison of latency, jitter, and packet loss going over cloud providers backbone as transit as compared to standard internet with different ISPs, peering agreements, etc. Anyone seen such experiment?

@thousandeyes @nunesvic Is it down again? It was reported back up around mid morning today. I still don't understand how this flew under the radar for as long as it did. There has to be so much equipment out there specifically set to time-X-g.nist.gov. I couldn't find a single report of it down

I received confirmation from the #NIST time folks that their Gaithersburg servers have been impacted by a fiber cut. However, their status for those servers all show "All services available." #NTP #time

ThousandEyes tests can confirm that at 15:40 UTC on October 4, the Facebook application became unreachable due to DNS failure. Facebook’s authoritative DNS nameservers became unreachable at that time. The issue is still ongoing as of 17:02 UTC.

@ajklopp @thousandeyes We did see the same withdrawals for the IPv6 prefixes covering their DNS nameservers. The list of withdrawn routes (including IPv6) is in the blog post updated this morning.

FB's statement on the outage perfectly aligns with what we reported on our blog (and that no one else has highlighted) - their backbone network went down first. That’s why we saw receive errors BEFORE DNS went down and even after DNS came back up. thousandeyes.com/blog/facebook-…

What a week for @thousandeyes ! But we've saved the best for last. By combining observability with the most technologically advanced absurdability, we've delivered the industry's only full-stack, full-sense, and full-of-it observability solution. thousandeyes.com/hearability

Telstra's peer Verizon was one of the service providers that began preferring Telstra's announced route.

Deep dive on the Centurylink/Level 3 outage. Lots of lessons to take away on the complexities of Internet routing and specific actions their customers could have taken to reduce outage impact. blog.thousandeyes.com/centurylink-le…

Big outages last week. @archana_k7 and I go deep on the IXP outage, plus our guest expert discusses TLS certs, the role of browser providers, and why we're seeing more outages related to expired certs. youtu.be/pWfq21r4mEo
