@TheDegenWeekly Going for a few days in Santa Cruz and then a few in Monterey/Carmel. They are both on the same Bay, but totally different vibes. In Carmel, make sure to stop by Pebble Beach for a quick drink on the 18th. It is a really cool experience

I spent a week in Northern California. Here's my review:
1. San Francisco (2 Days)
This was my first time visiting SF as an adult. I'd been when I was 10 years old but that doesn't count (although Alcatraz was pretty sick). I had my expectations low, which is key to any first time experience, but can also be tricky. For example: the first time I saw Hot Tub Time Machine, I thought it was the funniest movie I'd ever seen. Had no expectations. Took my wife to see it after hyping it up, and she did not think it was the funniest movie she'd ever seen. I set her expectations too high.
I thought SF was cool. Could I live there? Eh. I'm not sure I could ever get used to those hills, but they are super unique to any other American city. Being right on the Bay is pretty badass. The people were friendly and the service was good. I prefer the SF vibe over the LA vibe. Less pretentious and “douchey” for lack of a better word. Also much cleaner than I expected. Someone told me they got a new mayor who's done a good job, or maybe there was a big push during SB. Either way, not the zombie apocalypse you might think from watching the news.
My first Waymo ride was fun. Kinda creepy how all the billboards in SF are about AI. Def think it will be the first city where robots outnumber humans when the time comes.
2. Yosemite (3 days)
My wife and I love the outdoors but we aren't necessarily outdoors people, if that makes sense. The only way you can get me to camp in the wilderness is with something they call "Glamping" and that's what we did. Highly recommend Under Canvas which just opened their Yosemite location. These tents were awesome, and the food was fucking fantastic.
We checked out El Capitan, Tunnel View, some Sequoia trees, hiked the Vista Trail and Hetch Hetchy. Not super touristy which was great. I've heard Yellowstone gets absurdly packed. Could have been the time of year as it was a little cold. This was our second National Park visit and I thought it was perfect for beginners like us.
3. Napa (3 days)
This place is gorgeous. I was blown away at how nice of a drive it was (3.5 hours) from Yosemite to Napa. You'd be in flat farmlands that felt like the middle of Kansas, then an hour later be surrounded by mountains and vineyards. Someone told us California is responsible for making 70% of the country's produce. I now believe that.
I'm not the biggest wine guy but I like wine. Drank it a lot more before I started getting bad acid reflux. I don't think you need more than 2 days in Napa if you're just a casual wine drinker. The experience overall was great though. Enjoyed the tastings and scenery at every stop. There's only so much red wine I can drink during the day before I need a nap. The town could use an emergency cocktail bar nearby serving Whiskey Cokes and cigarettes to keep you going. Oh and you didn't ask but my favorite winery was Alpha Omega. We bought a few bottles there because they don't sell anywhere else. Pretty cool.
Overall I'm left coming away with this impression: Northern California fucking rocks.
I can't believe I was not familiar with its game. The people are chill. The scenery is stunning. The weather is lovely. As an East Coast guy who's made multiple drives from NYC to Florida and back, I am beyond envious that the other side of the country is so much more beautiful. They don't have any rest stops though, which is tough for a guy like me that has to piss every 20 minutes. So for that I would like to say THANK YOU New Jersey!
I'm not the type to make a lot of life goals (not a good thing) but I think ending up in Northern California after your kids go to college and living out your remaining years there is absolutely the dream scenario.
I doubt most of you read this but if you did, please let me know if you have any recs for my next visit. Cheers.

BREAKING: Secretary of State Marco Rubio hits back at claims of a U.S. oil blockade on Cuba:
"Here's what's happening with Cuba, okay? Cuba used to get free oil from Venezuela. They would take like 60% of that oil and resell it for cash. It wouldn't even go to benefit the people. So the only blockade that's happened is ... the Venezuelans have decided we're not giving you free oil anymore."
"The reason that I can't fix it is not just because they're communist. That's bad enough, but they're incompetent communists."

@DeWittTom @BuzzPatterson I don't think the plane directly hit the truck. It hit the light pole and then debris came through the window of the truck.

@BuzzPatterson Cant be real video. The dash cam shows the truck rolling. In this video the truck is not even disturbed.

“We have unearthed an explosive report.”
“The 2022 document that I am holding is an 87-page report from the then-acting state auditor in California addressed directly to the governor of California, warning in no uncertain terms that the state's weak oversight of hospice agencies has created opportunities for large-scale abuse and fraud.”

I’ve posted this before, but there are a lot more of y’all now, and I think it’s worth repeating.
Imagine a scenario in which large numbers of white people start saying that they “feel black,” and that because of this feeling, and their enjoyment of stereotypically “black behavior,” they are now not just black themselves, but the most marginalized and vulnerable type of black person.
Imagine them insisting that they should be the main focus of all activism meant to help PoC. Imagine them having operations to darken their skin and mimic stereotypically black features. Imagine them walking around in blackface, and saying it’s the exact same thing as actually being black.
Imagine them being honored as black citizens by the White House, being summoned to talk to the President about issues facing the black community, being supported by celebrities, and having laws passed to make white people who identify as black a protected class.
Imagine these people demanding membership in black organizations, insisting that they receive a share of the reparations that CA is about to pay, and demanding they be given awards created specifically to honor black achievement. Then imagine them getting their way.
Now imagine mobs of them showing up to black events that don’t include them, carrying threatening signs and air horns to drown out any speakers with noise. Imagine them coming up with slurs for any black person who doesn’t accept that white people are black if they say they are.
Imagine them calling for the rape, torture, and mass murder of any black person who disagrees with them. Imagine them getting black people doxxed, harassed, assaulted, fired from their jobs, and investigated by the police for saying that you have to be born black to be black.
Now imagine the government supporting their demands.
That’s exactly the position that women are in right now, with a few extras, like being locked in cells with dangerous men, the sexual predation of lesbians via coercion, and the increased risk of sexual assault in what used to be female-only spaces. Our oppressors are now claiming not only the right to oppress us in whole new ways, but the right to erase our identities as women and rewrite the meaning of womanhood in ways that suit - and include - them.
If you wouldn’t support this kind of behavior towards black people, you have no business supporting this kind of behavior towards women.

A Steve Hilton testimonial. Spread the word.
I’ve lived in California, off and on, since 1993. The Air Force sent me here first on an assignment to Travis AFB and I’ve settled down here since. I’m a transplanted Southerner. I love the state, hate the politics. It’s that simple.
Then, I had an opportunity to spend some time with @SteveHilton on a few occasions. We’ve had a couple meals together. I’ve gotten to know him. I’m impressed, not only with his intelligence and his grasp on literally everything that affects California but, equally importantly, he’s a great guy. There’s not a single issue you can challenge him on that he won’t have an airtight, conservative plan for. I dare you to find one.
He’s the answer for my state. The governor we need! The only answer. He’s bright, he’s prepared, and he’s hilariously funny. He’s 100% real. What you see with Steve, is what you get.
And he’s exactly who we need. I wholeheartedly endorse Steve for Governor of California!

@DukeMBB What happened to scheduling games that will get top viewership stats like the T-day game last year? Streaming on Prime sucks and will limit viewership severely.

@TheSignalCaller Maybe if the NFL would just announce the draft picks without a bunch of PR BS, you wouldn't have this problem.

🚨 SEC. RFK JR JUST DROPPED A BOMBSHELL:
"[They] charged us $6,000 a month for that hospice patient. How did we detect them all? Because the patients NEVER DIED."
"Hospices in Los Angeles — we've shut down 500 of them. We have not gotten *ONE CALL* from a congressperson or one call from a patient."
"Why? Because those hospices did not exist."
Gavin Newsom allowed this
