@RunninPam @UVGKassi @NeuroCosmos What a combo of gaslighting &mansplaining. Kassiane knows what these word parts mean - that's how she came up with the word! I think "neurotypical" was coined, or popularised, about a year earlier, by Laura Tisoncik as part of satire which Kassiane talks about in FDM podcast

@UVGKassi @NeuroCosmos @helenrottier “Neurodivergent” literally just means the opposite of “neurotypical,”which was actually coined by autistic people long before you came into activism to mean non-autistic before being expanded to include absence of other inborn neurological variances. (Cont’d)

@UVGKassi @NeuroCosmos @helenrottier You “coined neurodivergence”? I think not. Talk to @stevesilberman or others who have been in the field. I don’t believe that the expansion of the term is a useful shift. I believe it waters down the decades of already established research. I also don’t care to argue

I'm backing Britain’s young people. We're charging employers more to recruit from overseas and, if they do, they must prove they are investing in British workers and increasing British skills. That's the fair and right thing to do.

@Keir_Starmer Unless, of course, they're disabled, trans, impacted by climate breakdown, impacted by NHS privatisation, have more than two children and need benefits, rely on overseas development assistance, or are Labour members who want to choose their own candidates.

We've been truly amazed by the support we’ve had on here from @ucu members & branches, but it's beyond time to begin our final move elsewhere. We hope our employer will do the same. So do join us in one of the less morally bankrupt online spaces - see our profile for options.

Our employer has confirmed pay will remain frozen as they are “choosing” to not hold pay talks while we remain in dispute over our campaign for a safe & professional workplace. This decision breaches staff employment contracts. Astounding to find ourselves in a 2nd live dispute.

My guess is that the new Dept of Government Efficiency will determine that it is unwise to terminate any of the subsidies and contracts the government has with Elon’s various enterprises.

There are three wings of the Democratic Party. The corporate Democrats (98% of the politicians), the populist left (Bernie 2016 style economic populism) and the woke left (identity politics, culture wars). Everyone who is in the populist wing, come to @TheYoungTurks. We're going to rebuild this wing into the dominant force in Democratic politics. Then we're going to win the next Democratic primary and take control of the party. We're going to do it together and it's going to be the most empowering thing you've ever done.

There are some prominent priests/vicars/rectors on X demanding the resignation of @JustinWelby. I have followed these matters for over a decade, written much about them, and spoken to many survivors of abuse (and also helped them financially with counselling). I don't agree with those who are demanding the Archbishop's resignation, not least because there are mixed and some murky motives bubbling beneath the surface. I read one this morning who sees it as a way to somehow deal with conservative evangelicalism in the Church of England. I'm not one of those, but I'm not into expunging, sidelining or cancelling, either. There are valid reasons for an archbishop to resign, such as heresy or apostasy, but safeguarding is far less clear, and its processes far more prone to abuse, and yet the Church has made it a dogma on par with the XXXIX Articles, or even superior to them. What is a clear perspective or framework to one person is not always so clear-cut to another. And those making the noise are not always the best to listen to, as Burke observed:

Newsnight just listed all the Bishops who are keeping their heads down. It was shaming. This can’t go on tomorrow. It’s not a question of if but when. And the sooner the better.

A statement from the Right Reverend Dr Helen-Ann Hartley, @BishopNewcastle : “Following my call for the resignation of the Archbishop of Canterbury I need to share the contents of a letter I received from both the Archbishop of Canterbury and the Archbishop of York a matter of days before the publication of the Makin Report. “It is my considered view that the letter I received from both Archbishops sent to me in such close proximity to the publication of the Makin review (regardless of its intended publication date) signifies a wider and systemic dysfunction of how the hierarchy of The Church of England has dealt with matters of safeguarding and most particularly the impact of church-related abuse on victims and survivors. Moreover, the archbishops’ use of what I experienced as coercive language when I read their letter indicates a complete lack of awareness of how power dynamics operate in the life of the Church. “The decision to make this letter and its response public has not been taken lightly. Quite simply it is the right thing to do.” Read letter in full 👉 bit.ly/3UIf6fR

This is straight up BS… Biden was the most-pro worker President of my life time- saved Union pensions, created millions of good paying jobs and even marched in a picket line and some of MVP’s plans would have fundamentally transformed the quality of life and closed the racial wealth gap for working people across this country. From the child tax credits, to 25k for a down payment for a house to Medicare covering the cost of senior health care in their homes. There are a lot of post election takes and this one ain’t a good one.
Bernie Sanders@BernieSanders

It should come as no great surprise that a Democratic Party which has abandoned working class people would find that the working class has abandoned them. While the Democratic leadership defends the status quo, the American people are angry and want change. And they’re right.
