@mstotty88 2/2 explaining CES clearly is the fun one! How differently “bladder and bowel” are explained. My fave is the “wink test” for anal tone. God love my retired Gp on that one

Today I thought I would write my clinic letters to the patient as a “summary to record what we discussed” and cc the GP. It really made me consider the language we use that is understandable but medically accurate. I really enjoyed doing it this way and will continue!

@mstotty88 I pushed for this with us in work. As long as I’ve worked in the interface service I’ve always sent a copy to to the patient. Sometimes to them and cc others or if referred onwards cc the patient in. I’ve never been one for “fancy” language - 1-2

@AdamMeakins physio isn’t rocket science we find out what hurts and what you can’t do then break it down and make you do it! Sometimes we rub,poke,stick it with something ultimately we make you do the thing you don’t like doing so you can do the thing again, or make you do it a different way

Why do us physios spend so much time and effort trying to be so specific with our diagnosis when we don’t have many specific or sensitive tests, or more importantly we don’t treat them any differently? For example… Would we do anything different for a suspected supraspinatus tendionathy that we wouldn’t do for a long head of biceps tendinopathy or a SLAP lesion? Would we do anything different for a suspected disc herniation that we wouldn’t do for a spondylolisthesis? Would we do anything different for an arthritic knee joint that we wouldn’t do for a degenerative meniscal tear? Often we find aggravating movements, decide if its safe or sensible for the person to continue with those or not, and then we begin a comprehensive and progressive exercise program to restore tolerance and capacity or confidence back into a person! Physios treat many things very well and very successfully far more generically than they actually think!

@RobYeldham Can’t agree more! Digitised records in service silos are no better if not worse that a set of paper medical notes that float between services in hospitals!

No one will think this isn't needed but I'd like to know the scope? There is big difference between digitising records in each business unit and having a common and fully accessible system across all health and care organisations, especially as that goes beyond NHS.

Cannot wait for a weekend to Unwind! Still one or two spaces available!
