STORYTELLER. I put down what comes out on the PC and the tale takes a mind of it's own. It's great fun! But when it ceases to be fun, this 'teller's done

D.A.Grady@dagsnotes I wrote this novel- a tale fabricated in 1996!! Not sure how it happened, but as you read it, you'll see a mirror image of what goes on in our nation today as we all try to find out ........

“The goal of a novel is to hold the reader’s attention. Write, fail, and then write better. The wastepaper basket is your friend. It’s God’s gift to the writer. You become a writer by writing, so do it.” – Margaret Atwood – The Editors

Pay attention to the flow and cadence of your work. Does a sentence sound like it needs another word or two to round it off? #amwriting :-)

“Book blurbs are advertising copy. DON’T rehash your story. If you’ve already given your storyline away, what reason is there for a potential reader to buy it? Blurbs MUST capture reader’s attention. Use quotes. Think big!” – Annie Acorn – The Editors

The best editors have an 'ear' that allows them to polish a writer's work/teapot without turning it into a chair or, most importantly, removing the writer's unique voice. These specialists are always tuned into cadence and flow. So must you be. #amediting #writingcommunity :-)

“I've studied the work of other authors – how did they draw me in, their dialogue, flow, cadence, plot development, word choices – for more decades than I'll admit. Still learning things from others – a great, free resource.” – Annie Acorn – The Editors

Shorter chapters are fine. In fact, some famous ones only contained one word. Also, from a purely engineering standpoint, shorter chapters/sections can allow some readers to perceive a story as moving faster. Don’t worry about length. Just write your story. #writingcommunity :-)
