Today Nanjing Metro Line S2 opened. Pushing the 20 year old Nanjing Metro to over 625km in length. Line S2 is a suburban metro line that connects Nanjing with the neighbouring city of Ma'anshan. As such to better fulfill this role the line has passing loops for express services.

Another signage thing I appreciate: signing which side of the platform is for which direction before you reach the bottom of the escalator. Never seen this in other Chinese metros.

The local trains are every 8 mins though, and are already express compared to the actual local metro lines. Still would be nice to see more express services though when the infill stations open (maybe to like every 15 mins?)

Fuzhou metro has a skill issue in running an express service pattern. Seeing “128 mins” on a Chinese metro countdown clock before a US metro wasn’t on my bingo card

@transit_simp Hopefully this gives time for the project to become even better down the line. An elevated automated light metro would fit well for this alignment, also mitigates the transit driver shortage St Louis currently have.

St Louis’s Green Line project has been canceled, with city leaders saying the city is unlikely to receive the federal funding needed to make this project happen.
