The Knicks has recently struggled starting the game at the right tempo which has costed them to play at a deficit early. A guy like Josh Hart is suppose to set the tone for the offense and push the pace. Without Brunson, Josh is over this line 3/4 games averaging 29 PRA on 29.3 potential RA. Some ridiculous numbers and his one miss was vs GSW where he had just 20 PRA on 27 potential RA. Indiana plays at a fast tempo, so that takes GSW out of the equation which Josh Hart is now averaging 32 PRA against similar pace teams w/o Brunson (3/3 games). The ball is moved around a lot more with Brunson off the court and we should see a game for anyone on the floor. The only thing Indiana is successful in on defense is defending the three but they are a poor rim defense to slashers which is a guy for Hart to run through. Only H2H was last month recording 37 PRA in an overtime battle recording 41 minutes.

He’s facing a NY defense that has been elite defending Centers since the new year. Their last 15 games, they have been 2nd defending the Restricted Area and are #1 allowing the fewest Rebounds to Centers. Thanks to the combination of a 3-level scorer in KAT and a paint enforcer in Robinson, this matchup is better for Missi and Matkovic to do more damage. Yes Queen went over this line in the previous matchup recording 22 PRA in 29 mins. That was with Herb and Murray out, along with Mitchell Robinson out as well. They’re willing to start Herb at the 5 then having to play at a slower pace with either Queen or Missi starting. I see no more than 17 mins for DQ tonight and that’s me being generous. Really no more than 15, but will give the benefit of the doubt if the perimeter players are torching enough for Queen to get a few buckets to keep up the pace.

If so, they may have to rely more in zone coverage which leads to spot-up leaks where the majority of Caris points come from. There’s no one worth zoning or blitzing but Duren which they can in man coverage. We can see Caris in iso coverage where we haven’t seen much of it due to his usage with everyone healthy. This matchup is favorable as LA is B5 allowing the most PA to PGs. Without Cade and Sasser in the lineup, Caris is over this line 3/4 games averaging 17 PA with the miss being him shooting 2/9 vs GSW in the previous matchup. This guy has been a cash cow for us everytime his lines has a chance to reach the books. Really solid performance last game vs Brooklyn recording 20 PRA on 13 RA chances. The game was unexpectedly a battle so Mo’s ball-handling usage was low but with Josh Hart out, he had to stay in the game and he exceeded pass expectations. Landry Shamet is now out tonight which should allow Mo to be the first wing off the bench. If Josh Hart somehow calls out again, Mo will be the starter. Washington has been willing to limit primary ball-handling guards and force others to beat them. This will allow Mo to play off the dribble and make plays for himself and others. It just showed last game facing a BKN defense that tried to limit Brunson and KAT. Mo did very well against that defense. H2H vs Washington was his 7 PRA in 4 mins game where he tweaked his ankle and sat out the rest of the game. He was going to show out. We should see a 17+ minute show tonight from the rookie.
