These are some of the dumbest points imaginable. It’s frankly embarrassing. Let’s look at a few of them. Let’s agree, for purposes of this discussion, that General Donahue is a superb officer. What is the officer who is going to get the job this admiral thinks General Donahue should get? Is he not a superb officer? There are only 39 four-star officers in the military. I would assume all of them are superb. The real question is whether General Donahue has, in the opinion of the only person who matters, the best fit for whatever job this admiral thinks he should get. Note that the admiral has not said what job General Donahue should get, nor explained why General Donahue should get it instead of another four-star. In any case, the person who should make that decision is the commander-in-chief elected by the people of the United States, through his Senate-confirmed Secretary of War. As for involving four-star generals in politics, is that a joke? That is their job. A four-star interacts with political figures not as a collateral act, but as one of his primary duties. And since he is personally selected by the President of the United States, his selection will certainly involve politics. And it should. The people of the United States elected the president to enforce certain policies. The people expect the president to select subordinates who will pursue those policies. This whole tweet is just unbelievably dumb. Or maybe they just think you are dumb.

My conversation with Rear Adm. (Ret.) James McPherson, Army under secretary during Trump's first administration, about the impact of Gen. CD Donahue's early retirement: "There's no more warrior than there was General Donahue. "I think this goes to two things. One is the morale of the senior officers. They don't know what's in store for them. Is the administration going to go back and look at something they said or did when they were much lower rank years ago? That seems to be what's happening. "But there's also an aspect here that is very concerning, and that's civil-military relations. That's the relationship that the civilian community has with their military. And the foundation of that relationship is, the military is apolitical. They don't get involved in politics at all. Well, now we see this administration involving senior officers in politics. And that erodes the trust that the civilian community has in their military. It impacts that civilian-military relationship." pbs.org/newshour/show/…

You all share this image of General Donahue leaving Iraq as the last man to leave. You made it sound so wonderful, brave, and magnanimous. He is such a great leader!!!! As someone that served 25 years, fought in 2 wars, and served most of my time in the 82nd Airborne Division. Let me tell you what this picture really is. It is a man that had such failed leadership that he allowed terrorists to kill 13 of our finest and wound many others. You all cheered him like he was Caesar leaving the field of victory, when in fact he was leaving the scene of his failed leadership. You can espouse how great his service is and was, it doesn’t matter. In the Army we have a saying that is very simple. “It isn’t about what you did yesterday, it is about what you do today and tomorrow” He will not be remembered for his past accomplishments, he will be remembered for leading 13 service members to their deaths.

You’re more often wrong than right. More importantly, the 82nd Airborne is stationed at Fort Bragg IN YOUR STATE. General Donahue was the commander of the 82nd and responsible for security during the disastrous withdrawal from Afghanistan. He was a major player in the rushed timeline, inadequate planning for contingencies, the Abbey Gate suicide bombing (which killed 13 U.S. service members and many Afghans), and the abandonment of equipment and allies. As a former member of the 82nd, and former resident of NC, I submit that you are a disgrace Senator.

General Chris Donahue has spent his career leading from the front, earning the respect of Soldiers, Allies, and senior leaders across the Joint Force. Secretary Hegseth’s decision to force him out says far more about Hegseth than it does about General Donahue. This is yet another unforced error from a Secretary leading the Pentagon with bro-culture bravado rather than restraint, humility and careful stewardship of the finest fighting force in the world. Strong leaders are not threatened by accomplished commanders. Weak ones are. His paranoid micromanagement of senior military leaders and promotion lists is pure insecurity dressed up as reform. He is more interested in purging people he perceives as insufficiently loyal than empowering proven patriots who can actually lead. This is not reinvigorating the warrior ethos. This is not a leader prioritizing merit. It’s sophomoric. It’s unserious. And it’s bringing great harm to our Department of Defense. Our military deserves steady, serious civilian leadership. Right now, it’s getting the opposite. notus.org/congress/top-g…

@nicksortor Sadly, it's likely just another unemployable goof working the only "job" that he can hold. Maybe even genuinely crazy. "Choose a job you love, and you will never work a day in your life"

Just another shameless lie. But, if they rewrite to permit mail ballots obtained as they are in Ohio, by a request form ONLY spammed out to registered voters' last address, they may get Fetterman on board. His sole opposition seems to be the Act's blanket opposition to mail ballots, never heard him speak in support of ballot harvesting or against photo ID. Ever wonder if some 'Pubs support the extreme version as a poison pill, because they know it's DOA, and are simply posturing for the home crew? "Oh well, we really tried, we did..."

It would be, but also very sad. One cannot become so very skilled without a genuine love for the sport. Unless she's a female Larry Bird of talking trash, she's rather noble in taking the high road. Hopefully these other women overcome the racist programming and realize how awful they look.

Vivek's under-performance in polling is in part the same 8% of Trump45 Ohio support missed in '16, and in part due to his own foolish comments surrounding H-1Bs. @VivekGRamaswamy has some work to do. If this is lost, I'll blame the lazy and stupid @ohiogop for endorsing Vivek so very early, simply because he flashed a big bankroll at them. They negated an (R) gubernatorial primary a year ago.

He also models a behavior of subtle and unspoken support for the woman that quit on him as health director during Covid, abortion activist Amy Acton, over his own supposed party's candidate for Gov, Vivek Ramaswamy. The man he should have tapped to replace JD Vance in the US Senate, leaving Jon Husted (then his Lt Gov) to easily run as his replacement. @GovMikeDeWine is a stick in Ohio's spokes. Good riddance to Mini-Mike II

I recall a leaked text string during peak covid with 6 of Ohio's 7 big blue city mayors. (CLE's former Mayor Frank Jackson not participating) At that time it seemed to me as if they were bullying a cowardly governor. Between this now and the fact that he just commuted the death sentence of a man that murdered another man by lighting him on fire during a home invasion, I'm now convinced that Dewine is one of the Democrats. Whizzin' on his own legacy going into retirement must assuage the guilt of a two-faced career.
