The present day Premier League as an entertainment vehicle is piss-poor right now. Downright boring for the what the entrance fee is. VAR is boring. The level of cheating is boring. The games and its constant stoppages are boring; and having hardly any 3pm kick-offs is also boring, while treating fans with total disdain.
Most players are fully detached because they're paid too much and are surrounded by Agents/Nepotism and many hangers-on; resulting in - they simply don't care enough. It's why they put out the odd video of them visiting a hospital or something, while players years ago just got on with connecting with people. Regarding players, and owners, there’s a real disconnect from the true supporters who built the culture and name of these Premier League football clubs in the first place.
The only times fans don't see the above/don't want to see the disconnect etc, with absolute clarity, is when their own club is winning, when we all tend to wear our rose-tinted glasses - a bit like Liverpool FC last year, Arsenal this year. When they - a club - lose consistently, and increase prices, or the owners turn up only when a trophy is on show, the Supporters see it with clarity, and most true followers of a football club then want to do something about it.
Thing is, it needs a fresh reboot/restart, which is only going to happen when the fans of all clubs put rivalries aside and unite to say "enough is enough". Till then, outbursts and fan demos will be infrequent and "mostly wasted", probably like this post on twitter. Anyway, fact remains, most games are boring, sterile stadiums with OTT prices are costly & boring, VAR and on field cheating is endemic and boring and the whole thing needs a Bundesliga style reboot. Will it happen? Probably not, but as a fan you always, always, live in hope. #PremierLeague#Football
🟥 No Robertson Contract Offer, No Complaints, Liverpool Got It Right
Liverpool didn't offer Andy Robertson a new contract, and rightly so. Say it plainly, because sentiment has a habit of clouding judgement where good players become great servants and great servants become something close to sacred. I count myself among Andy's biggest admirers; few have given more, or carried themselves better, in the colours of Liverpool.
But the clue sits in his own words. "A conversation we all had". Read it properly, and the picture sharpens. Robertson wants to play, not occasionally, not in rotation, but as a starter with purpose and rhythm. Liverpool cannot give him that anymore, and it would be dishonest to pretend otherwise.
So there's no contract, because there's no point in one. Not an insult, not a misstep, not a failure of loyalty. It's clarity. A player who still trusts his game, a club that must move to its next phase. Anything else would have been disingenuous.
Fans will remember the engine, the defiance, the voice that helped drive a team to new heights. They should. He earned that memory. But memory can't patrol the left flank, and it doesn't recover ground when the game stretches.
This is what respect looks like in football when it's done properly. No empty gestures, no false promises, no slow fading into the background. Robertson goes to find his football again, Liverpool move forward as they must, and both walk away with their dignity intact. No insult occurred.
@scouse_allieLFC I'm still willing to give him a chance, but I don't think its healthy they do. It is.pretty toxic and a bad start would a Rodgers repeat of a mistake.
@scouse_allieLFC It doubtful for me. He was knackered, I think other teams relaxed knowing he'd gone and a relative unknown taking over and unless he'd signed anyone, it probably would have gone like precious seasons.
I do think Slot is undervalued by a lot of the online 'fanbase'.
Can we STOP pretending Trump has a plan?!
The imbecile has just increased Iran’s leverage,
Made life worse for all of us,
…all because he’s a thick AF egomaniac and Netanyahu’s little lapdog.
Told my wife to have dinner ready at 6 or I will obliterate her entire civilization.
She now charges me a fee to use the bathroom, that used to be free, and I didn't get dinner. WTF
It's OK everyone, Richard Tice underpaying £91,000 in tax was just a "minor administrative error", whereas Angela Rayner underpaying £40,000 stamp duty was a resigning matter.
@Kaytea21 Suspect he wants to play much more than he would likely do. Sad, but probably for the best as he deserves to play as much as he can.
By far my favourite modern player.
So upset to hear that Robbo will be leaving. Just love him, he's been immense over the years. I still think we need him, his leadership, his confidence boost, his team spirit, his morale. Just everything. Really disappointed contract negotiations haven't worked out.
What i noticed about PSG was how reluctant they was to play backwards always looking to play forwards unlike us whos keeper and center halfs get more of the ball than any other players 🤦♂️🤦♂️🤦♂️
