@mahirahman1892 @LewisFN00 The 17/18 team was not just a functional team mate. We were absolutely destroying teams.
English

@davidyevrah @LewisFN00 It was a more functional side rather than fluid side like this PSG team
English

I think people severely underestimate how good 18-20 Liverpool and 17-19 Man City were.
Sean@SeanDOlfc
Me saying these are the best team since Pep’s Barca keeps aging like wine. Those Madrid sides didn’t play like this. It was Marcelo crossing to Ronaldo and praying for a miracle.
English

@mahirahman1892 @LewisFN00 Got to two finals winning one of them and lost a game to Atleti at Anfield that they win 9 times out of 10. The groups didn’t matter as long as you got out of them.
English

@LewisFN00 18-20 Liverpool lowkey sucked in Europe. Lost away in Naples, Belgrade and got absolutely destroyed in Paris where our midfielders couldn’t touch Veratti. We didn’t dominate games like PSG and City did/do
English

@Hux1688 @TheFootyFeed What does this even mean? Two of the players Owen shared the golden boot with were Dion Dublin and Chris Sutton you don’t get any more mechanic than them. Football then was 442 get it in the mixer which is sound but let’s not act like every team had loads of creative players
English

@davidyevrah @TheFootyFeed More goals from a striker doesn't demonstrate flair, it demonstrates machinery.
English

@Darren12555 @KurtAVFC @TheFootyFeed Like I said earlier though this season doesn’t help my argument at all because it’s been a tough watch.
English

@Darren12555 @KurtAVFC @TheFootyFeed I don’t think it is better necessarily. I just don’t like it when old players do the whole it was better in my day thing. I live in Barcelona now and go watch Lamine Yamal all the time and he does things that take your breath away just like Owen did at 18. It’s cyclical.
English

@Darren12555 @KurtAVFC @TheFootyFeed Then how shaky memory is all of sudden you’ve got a distortion of the past. We remember Henry running past Carra and whipping his top off but forget that the invincibles were a very balanced team. They scored 73 and conceded 26. That is not a free roaming all out attacking team.
English

@Darren12555 @KurtAVFC @TheFootyFeed I understand what you’re saying and to clear I am not trying to be a dick head at all. My thing is we always need to be careful how we think about the past and nostalgia. We didn’t see the same amount of footy and basically only saw the good bits.
English

@Darren12555 @KurtAVFC @TheFootyFeed Having said that this season has been grim to watch maybe Cherki in the last few weeks aside.
English

@Darren12555 @KurtAVFC @TheFootyFeed I can see the argument but none of the champions from the era scored more goals than Liverpool last season outside of United in 2000 so if there was more space, more individual quality and more creativity how can that be true? We only remember the good bits is all I am saying.
English

@smalltrend @TheFootyFeed I am describing an era when most footy was only seen in highlights on match of day rather than full games and it was 442 kick and rush footy outside a few teams. I went to almost every game of Owen’s Liverpool career live and I can tell you there was a lot of shite in there mate
English

@davidyevrah @TheFootyFeed You are describing the exception rather than the rule
English

@Darren12555 @TheFootyFeed When are we basing this off? Like just this season? Because I know this season doesn’t help my case at all
English

@KurtAVFC @Darren12555 @TheFootyFeed We also saw a lot less live footy back then. It was mostly match of the day so we only remember the best bits of players. I am 41 and have probably watched more full games in the last 5 years than I did in the previous 25 so we see more of the shite than ever before.
English

@Darren12555 @davidyevrah @TheFootyFeed Yep. Because there was a lot more creativity about.
Nowadays the genuinely top class players you can count on your fingers, and they play for the same few clubs, so they win comfortable every week.
He's proved Owen's point for him.
English

@Darren12555 @TheFootyFeed Mate I am 41 and watched this whole era and promise you this is just not true. They had great players then as well don’t get me wrong but this idea of no individuals, flair or creativity in modern football is massively overblown
English

@davidyevrah @TheFootyFeed There was far more flair and creativity then though, now it’s systems that are more effective but we’ve lost the art in football
English

@damzychillin Micheal Laudrup. Played in a 5-0 win for both teams in back to back seasons.
English

@DonKing2nd_ City won 18 out of 19 from January conceding 7 goals and getting 98 points. That team might be the best to ever play in the prem. This is not the same.
English

@AFC_Rexzzy Neither did Conte then because Tottenham finished second in that season.
English

Arne Slot didn’t beat Pep Guardiola to the PL title.
LiveScore@livescore
The only managers to stop Pep Guardiola’s Manchester City winning the Premier League… and the points totals needed to do it 😅🏆
