2 weeks ago, I quit my $100k job to indie hack full-time. Not gonna lie, I was super terrified. Since then, the momentum has been unreal: ✅ Got monetized on X 🐦 ✅ Made $197 so far from it 💰 ✅ Hit $161 in revenue for apps (300x)📈 ✅ First major YouTube video goes live next week 🎬 I’m not saying this happened because I quit. But I quit because I knew it was about to happen. We’ve got a mountain to climb, but the view from base camp is pretty damn good. 🤌

2 years ago, I landed my first $5k/month retainer client.
It didn’t start that way.
I found them on Upwork looking for development help and took on a small $500 project that lasted about 3 weeks.
They were an early-stage startup launching their first product.
A few weeks later, they came back with more work.
Then more.
This was all before AI, people were barely using Ai for coding and co-pilot was go to tool for coding at that time for most of the developers
I kept helping with features, suggesting improvements, solving problems before they became problems, and slowly became the person they trusted for product decisions.
Eventually they proposed a retainer.
At the time they had no development team, so I became their go-to person for everything product and engineering related.
Fast forward to today:
> 2+ years working together
> ~$500k ARR business
> still fully bootstrapped
> still shipping new features regularly
and If everything goes well, we’ll finally meet in person later this year.
A $500 project ended up one of my biggest client.

I switched back to Cursor last week after using Codex for 6 months. A few thoughts: - the agent is great. on par with CC & Codex. - inapp browser + design mode is easily the best front-end dev experience - inline PR review is awesome. super excited for their github alternative
