Sneer more. Highly valued employees in the US get more time off than Europeans. My daughter is a doctor. She makes $325,000 a year and works one week on and one week off. Her on week is 12 hour shifts for 7 days, then 7 days to do whatever she wants. If she wants more than 7 days off at a time she trades shifts. My son is a software engineer. He makes about as much as his sister. He has unlimited paid time off. Unlimited. He's taken months off at a time to travel in Asia. The US is a meritocracy. I'm sorry for you that Europe is not.
