@NaomiNiCathain @BelTel Depends on circumstances. Some, like the Waterford and Suir Valley Railway are narrow gauge (i.e. much smaller) or on former double track formations with more room. We are neither.

@BelTel Some places have successfully run a heritage railway alongside a walking or cycling path, showing that greenways and railways can coexist.

@mark395625 @SteelCityDog_ @B_railway_dog That photo is indeed ours, recently donated to scheme in Wales. As a prototype it has all the issues that were later ironed out on the Pacers, and we simply didn't have the time or resources to do what BR did.

@Fakelol666_ We have plenty of spares. 99 was acquired by ELR for spares and we know the guys there. There was hope that it might be possible to regauge it to run, but ultimately it proved beyond their means.

Good. Spend the money opening a new Mourne Coastal trail from Downpatrick (along the old railway line), to Newcastle and extend all the way to Rostrevor. With additional trails off it accessing the Mournes, at Glasdrumman, Dunnywater/Annalong, whitewater/kilkeel & Knockshee
