@AMIAinformatics Limit the scope of documentation to clinical documentation (what’s needed to care for patient, communicate b/w providers, & manage care over time), requiring regulations, billing, admin, measures, etc to find ways to get data other than requiring providers to generate it for them

In other words, the "product" is not the software, or the document, or the gizmo: it's the assemblage of like-minded, incentives-aligned people towards a mission. In my experience, true community is one of the most potent effectors of change in the world. Something to behold.

Sometimes within communities, we become more focused on what we do, vs. who we are. Healthy communities derive their essential energy and longevity through people genuinely aligning with each other, committing to something bigger than themselves.

@HoldenGroves @judywawira @Dr_Oubre Secure chat has replaced pagers for us, making it useful for urgent matters (interruption) and inappropriate for non-urgent messages…at least in the outpatient context. It’s like saying “Stop what you’re doing and listen! This patient needs a refill in the next few days.”

Also - You will be able to tee-up sign orders right through secure chat which seems even more efficient.

This "documentation" is harming patients by wasting everyone's time and diluting clinically useful communication. All systems or processes that incentivize creation of this lard need to be fixed for all of our sakes. Not a new problem: twitter.com/ICUStat/status…
