@KemiBadenoch @Conservatives There are also stories of qualified doctors in the UK who haven’t been able to secure a job after over a year of GMC registration.
English

Doctors are on strike today for the 15th time since 2023, costing us £3bn in the last 3 years.
Starmer promised to sort it, even gave them a 28% pay rise...it didn't work.
Time for serious action. The @Conservatives will ban doctors' strikes, like we do for the army and police.

After introducing yourself at the PTDF interview.
Here are possible follow up questions if you introduce yourself the way I shared in my previous post.
1. Questions that try to make you discuss your previous experience or academic project.
2. Questions that focus on your future study, in this case, your SOP or Research proposal.
3. Questions that explore the motivation that you mentioned to ensure that it’s not a made up story or AI generated
One of the three is the most likely immediate outcome before any additional questions.
Prepare well and think in the framework we discussed yesterday.
I will be live again at 9 PM on Facebook and twitter/X possible and YouTube to answer your questions.
Bring your friends and bring your questions
If you are asked about your project : Talk about what the project studied/why it studied it, the methodology it used for studying it and what it found or the key findings.
If you asked about your previous experience, talk about it with the 5 Ws framework.
Who - focus on your contribution not the overall team achievement.
Where - the environment or nature of the industry. Onshore, offshore, manufacturing, oil and gas, education etc
When - how long and how recent
What - the exact quantifiable achievements you had on the job.
I developed and led the implementation of maintenance schedule for my company is different from I developed and led the implementation of a maintenance schedule for my company which reduced our equipment failure from 70 to 10 occurrences per year. You can put that in percentage. It could also be money saved or any other measurable factor.
Why - the skills that enabled you to achieve what you achieved. Use this to also sell why you want to study what you want to study.
During this period I found that XYZ challenge was not limited to my company but a widely spread situation in the oil and gas industry in Nigeria.
My masters degree or PhD will advance my knowledge in the area with a unique focus on its application in oil and gas operations to improve or to stabilise production.
Don’t memorise this.
It’s a framework for thinking and for your practice.
This thought process applies to other scholarship and job interview situations.

@InibeheEffiong Some people will still argue with this statement.
My own is to teach people how to win international scholarships.

If you get into your PTDF interview and you are asked to introduce yourself, this would be the kind of thing I will do in a minute.
Define:
Who you are today
What you have done in the past
And what you hope to do with the scholarship alongside your motivation.
Make this answer relevant to the industry or the economy of Nigeria.
Let’s say you are a graduate. Just finished NYSC, no real work experience.
Studied mechanical engineering
Please introduce yourself
This is an example.
Think about your own reality.
I have just completed my national service and now applying for scholarship opportunities to further my education at masters degree level. Prior to my national service, I graduated with a first class degree from university of Nigeria Nssukka where I did a final year research project on predictive maintenance of car engines; a study that tracked an element in engine oil to predict maintenance schedules prior to failure.
During my NYSC, I attended a technical meeting of the SPE in Port harcourt where a presentation by a staff of local an indigenous operator highlighted a case in which equipment failure cost the company 5000 barrels of oil per day for 15 days.
This was the moment that defined my interest in advancing my knowledge of predictive maintenance from an oil and gas application perspective through a master’s degree.
Note: this is not about how the scholarship benefits you, it’s about how your studies will solve a problem of the industry and about your prior knowledge and preparedness for success in the study.
What else did you notice about this answer?
Success is coming!
