While the hardliners were itching to pull the trigger on U.S. warships in the Strait, Araghchi was overheard by a journalist in Pakistan absolutely losing it on the phone: "You don't touch those US warships, you mf."
If Araghchi is resortng to swearing at his own generals, the situation in the Strait is even thinner than we thought.

For the Trump administration to understand: The Strait of Hormuz is NOT OPEN. The UAE does not and will NEVER accept the Islamic regime in Iran imposing CONDITIONS on access. The UAE is not Britain or the EU. It does not accept any terrorist actor restricting freedom of navigation. As for Pakistan, Turkey, and Saudi Arabia negotiating to keep the regime afloat, understand this: no state has a legitimate right to decide who may pass and under what terms. That is international law, not a bargaining chip.
Shame on United Kingdom, NATO, European Union, and anyone who tolerates this regime’s terrorism and piracy.

Iran doesn’t “control” the Strait of Hormuz, they are simply threatening to blow up ships there. Something the US and dozens of other countries could also do. So far we have allowed Iran’s oil to leave the strait. We could stop that immediately. And maybe we should.

Kuwait faced 28 drones, some hitting oil, power, and desalination facilities.
UAE intercepted 17 missiles and 35 drones; debris struck the Habshan gas complex, injuring three.

Israel took multiple waves of Iranian missile fire after the ceasefire was announced.
Kuwait reports that more than two dozens drones were launched by Iran since 8am.
UAE is currently under an Iranian missile attack.
Iran, via state media, reports strikes against Lavan Island and the oil infrastructure there.

And what do we get?
Iran keeps its uranium.
No nuclear deal.
The Strait of Hormuz still unstable.
And the world sees us as weaker, not stronger.
Sounds about right for a Trump deal.
