-and we as the audience call it out. It really is that simple.
This isn't some loaded or sinister way of interpreting art. People are using the phrase because the story didnโt support the themes it tried to deliver, not because theyโre pushing some deeper ideological reading.

Themes only carry weight when the narrative leading to them is constructed with care. Execution is what gives those ideas emotional credibility.
Weโre not rejecting themes, weโre rejecting sloppy writing that leans on themes as a shield. We notice when the narrative falls apart

Itโs astonishing to see people dismiss โthemes & suchโ as a thoughtโterminating clichรฉ, as though it isnโt a legitimate critique of defending shallow narratives on the basis of mere thematic presence.
