This isn't some loaded or sinister way of interpreting art. People are using the phrase because the story didn’t support the themes it tried to deliver, not because they’re pushing some deeper ideological reading.

Themes only carry weight when the narrative leading to them is constructed with care. Execution is what gives those ideas emotional credibility.
We’re not rejecting themes, we’re rejecting sloppy writing that leans on themes as a shield. We notice when the narrative falls apart

It’s astonishing to see people dismiss “themes & such” as a thought‑terminating cliché, as though it isn’t a legitimate critique of defending shallow narratives on the basis of mere thematic presence.
