@WeAreOpenreach do you consider this acceptable parking by your team this morning, blocking not only a dropped kerb, my drive and completely blocking the footpath? There is parking space further down the road they could be using #accessibilty
@HedgehogCabin That’s really interesting - these have to be last years hoglets. We know that they didn’t hibernate in our house over the winter - they have moved in since around end Feb/early March. We have a good food supply for them, we have at least one other hog that comes into the garden
@fierysam They will be siblings.
A litter of siblings only disperse if there's not enough food for all of them in that garden.
But if there is enough food for all, they will stay together until their first hibernation.🥰
@HedgehogCabin we have a hedgehog house in our garden that is a happy home to not one, but 2 hedgehogs! We feel very lucky, but wonder how common is it for them to share sleeping quarters?
@agilepredict When does the green energy start to kick in - last two days have been bright and sunny, surely the solar farms must have been contributing something!
@archer_rs My neighbour does it all the time - sits on a deckchair digging in pots on the front gravel, talking loudly into the phone while it blasts out tge half of the conversation. Makes them look important/like they have a friend……
People who undertake loud personal phone calls via speakerphone in public places (such as this airport's business lounge this morning) deserve to be flayed.
I have tried tutting and looking at her in a pointed manner but both strategies have proven ineffective.
Our cat eats @Purina gourmet selection cat food and since the rebranding about 4 weeks ago is turning away from bowls of food despite being hungry. Anyone having similar problems and has anyone found another brand that your cat is happy with - because he’s not eating this stuff
@angusproud@Jen_grows@MartinSLewis Full EV simply isn’t an option for many people - the cost of buying them is too high, the infrastructure for charging is simply not there for much of the country, especially if you are rural, and have to use a car to get anywhere as there’s no viable public transport
@fierysam@Jen_grows@MartinSLewis Assuming you use electricity half the time, you'll pay half what an EV driver pays and half what a petrol car owner pays. Of course if you use electric more than that, you're winning. If not, get an EV.
QUESTIONS 1: FOR CHANCELLOR. I'm interviewing the Chancellor tomorrow morning for my show 7:30pm tomorrow. I don't get long but pls feel free to suggest PRACTICAL NOT POLITICAL questions for her by reply
PS I'll post Questions 2 in a mo for you to post Qs on the budget for me.
@angusproud@Jen_grows@MartinSLewis There is no intention to split the mileage - PHEV drivers will get charged twice for each mile they drive. That won’t happen to any other drivers. Charging more wont change the number of miles, even if it were an option for those in rural locations.
@fierysam@Jen_grows@MartinSLewis Home charging has VAT at 5%. Petrol is charged at 20%
EVs will pay £300 for 10K miles. Fuel duty for a petrol car could cost double that.
With a PHEV, you could charge it more and pay almost no fuel duty, yet you're going to pay half the rate for an EV.
Whatever you do, shhh..
@Jen_grows@MartinSLewis PHEV drivers will be taxed 3 times over - fuel duty, new mileage tax and VAT on electric. Yet HEV drivers only get charged Fuel duty and VAT - yet the mileage tax would go to the same general public spending as fuel duty, so all hybrids should be charged, or none?
@MartinSLewis If a PHEV only does 30 miles on electric how can they end up paying per mile duty and also fuel duty for a journey, this is double taxation ie travel 150 miles only 30 miles electric 120 miles petrol but will be charged duty for the 150 mile plus paying for petrol duty
@MartinSLewis explain the logic of the per mileage tax & exclusion of self charging hybrids. Fuel duty goes to the central fund, supporting general public spending - so why are these cars excluded when plug-in hybrids are included & triple charged. - new tax, fuel duty & VAT on electric?
@WHeuler54677@SouthDallasFood I say this all the time - first orange and white cat, naughtiest, most challenging but totally lovable cat I’ve ever had! Vowed I’m going back to black next time
We know from @RSPCA_official that 62% of dogs, 54% of cats and 55% of horses show signs of distress during fireworks, it’s a fair assumption that wildlife also suffers greatly, possibly in far greater numbers, and livestock too. We’ve seen research which suggests wild birds make exhausting, unnecessary energy burning flights to escape fireworks. We know all this but many people still choose fireworks for “entertainment”, ignorant of, or turning a blind eye to animal welfare and the damage being done to our already depleted wildlife. If people can choose to do this, the only way to stop it is through restrictions and the current restrictions do not go nearly far enough!
