Here’s a crazy idea… include people in your company that have experience dealing with non tech people. Give a voice to a help desk person who deals with the technology but also the end users. Bridge the gap instead of talking down to people who aren’t tech savvy…

Just for comparison: meat consumption generates the same CO2 as 1,400 years of every prompt sent to GPT, and kills 92 billion land animals per year and trillions of fish. But let’s blame the chatbot.

Just to put this in perspective, the difference in emissions between an average gas and electric car is about 2,000 median chatbot prompts per mile. Replacing a single gas powered ride share car with an AV would collectively stop the emissions of 60,000,000 prompts per year.

Google DeepMind just hired Henry Shevlin as a Philosopher to treat machine consciousness as a live research problem. So DeepMind thinks the hardest part of advanced AI is no longer only getting models to perform tasks, but figuring out what kind of inner states, goals, and behavior those systems might develop. Shevlin’s job also covers how people relate to AI and how advanced systems should be governed.
