@tylernrains @DrewMitrisin @opcares It was never the intention of the publication to attack flags that depart from the 5 principles - it was an effort (undertaken by numerous people) to identify some guiding principles that might be useful to communities and organizations as they considered various design options.

@flagstudies @DrewMitrisin @opcares Yes I understand, I have less of a problem with y'all and more with the culture that has surrounded it. Which isn't necessarily your fault-- sometimes creations escape their creators and get used/enforced in unintended ways. Including to attack flags outside the guidelines.

Important update from @opcares. We are working with @flagstudies, the North American Vexillological Association, to finalize our city flag design. Turning to the experts!

@tylernrains @DrewMitrisin @opcares or politically acceptable solution. And for every well-designed flag you apparently dislike, there are still numerous cities adopting flags with city seals - so don't despair!

@tylernrains @DrewMitrisin @opcares And the results of the NAVA 2022 New American City Flags Survey are generally supportive of the five principles (nearly 4,000 people participated in the survey).

@flagstudies I have a question: upon joining NAVA, you usually get miniature desk flags and some other stuff too, right? I've seen most people get a NAVA flag and some books, but I have not received mine yet, but I did get the newest copy of Vexillum in the mail yesterday

Today, we celebrate the 141th birthday of our beautiful national flag. 🇪🇪 The first Estonian flag remains the world’s oldest national flag preserved in its original form. For generations, the blue-black-white has united us, brought joy, and given hope. May it continue to do so.
