@TheMunkis And I also agree that the writing in blade 1 is straight up garbage lol. I was bored throughout the entire game. Not a game I like at all. 2, 3 and their DLCs I have some appreciation for.

@TheMunkis To be honest I'm not sure I agree. there are plenty of unsavory aspects to the writing in the xeno games. I also don't think it has any aesthetic quality. Xeno often is bottom 90% slop if we're using your terms. I agree that gameplay is best with a strong scenario however.

Chapters 1-6 took me 19 hours.
Makna forest alone took me 14. About one hour of that is story, the remainder was doing the 70-ish quests.
And now it would seem I have around 80 quests to do before even going into the High Entia Tomb. Next week will be busy...

@TheMunkis But while they can be impressive for games, I don't really think they're a high bar for writing in general. Yes, I'm one of those people. But I'll let it slide for xeno since it's achieved a higher standard of quality than most video games.

@TheMunkis I havent played gears since I'm a poser. Saga 1, blade 2 and 3 I can like. Some scenes in saga 2 are fine. I think Takahashi has gotten better over the years as he found a balance between doing something popular and his influences.

People today are lost trying to turn nostalgia into a boutique product. But none of the mother fan games I've seen have even thought about modernizing the setting for children today in order to foster the same feelings in its audience that Mother did when it released.

I think if anyone still waiting for Oddity really wants to see a game like it that will actually come out, they should check out DREAMTONE. It's got a demo out on Steam already, and it's very much inspired by Oddity while still doing its own thing.

Nintendo will never give up on Metroid and neither will I. My dream is for this franchise to eventually be as popular as Star Fox now is. It had a good chance with Metroid Prime 4, but even longtime fans were swayed and manipulated by the negativity. They betrayed us.
