This is Donald Trumpโs tirade tonight on Truth Social. Iโve been very patient with The Don, and Iโve been very measured and balanced in the feud erupting between him and the pope. This, however, is too much. Donald J. Trump just lost my support. He wonโt get it back until I see an apology for this, directed toward Catholic Americans and Pope Leo XIV. Thankfully, Donald Trump will not be running for office again in 2028. So I donโt need to worry about voting for him. Nobody does. However, if Republicans want to win elections ever again, they will need to distance themselves from Donald J. Trump. His name is now toxic to the Catholic vote, and Catholics make up at least 17% of the Republican Party.

Not stupid at all. Stop being led around by influencers. This is for Muslim scholars who are studying at the library. Muslims pray five times a day on time. Rather than having them be disruptive to other guests and scholars, an accommodation was made where they could go in private. This is not only hospitable. Itโs just practical.

The standard position in the Catholic just war tradition (going back to St. Alphonsus Liguori and St. Robert Bellarmine) is that a war is not just unless it is morally certain that it meets all just war criteria (where moral certainty is the degree of certainty needed, for example, before sentencing an offender to death). If it is merely arguable or even merely probable that a proposed war meets those criteria, then the war cannot justly be initiated. Hence Pope Leo's judgment is correct. "Arguable" is the most that can be said for the war, but "arguable" is not good enough.
