One of the highlight of our L3 is that both L1 and L2 can directly interact with L3. It means that no matter where the user is from - either L1 or L2 - they can access the L3 DApps directly. In other words, a L1 user won't need to go to L2 before going to L3.

This graph shows an overview of the existing zkEVMs. They put everything, including the selectors for opcodes, the values, and the states, in a huge table or a state machine, and they have some smaller circuits or secondary state machines to prove different properties of the EVM.

By applying a skillfully-designed ZK-friendly trace and zk-EVM structure, Fox is able to compress the redundant and wasted spaces in the circuits, which helps to reduce the size of the polynomial to be committed and ultimately shorten the time to generate proofs.

Sequencer runs a Geth node making FOX network fully EVM-compatible. Every smart contract can be deployed on the FOX network, and it behaves the same on the FOX network as it does on Ethereum, without the need for custom tweaks. Moreover, Sequencer also serves as zk-Ringer.

Fox Folder is the proof generator, taking the trace from the sequencer, and processing it inside the zkEVM using a large number of small tables, rather than a surprisingly large table, which will significantly reduce the redundancy and increase the speed of generating proofs.

Sequencer serves as the interface on Layer 2 to receive requests from users. Sequencer runs a Geth node, receives L2 requests, records the trace, and calculates the state root hash of the FOX network.

- L1 contract holds the funds and state of all users, verifies zero-knowledge proofs while updating the state, and manages users' deposit and withdrawal requests. - zk-Ringer - the component between the Geth node and Memo layer. It acquires data from the Geth node.

Our architecture provides the following guarantees: The Folder(s) can never corrupt the state or steal funds (unlike side chains). Users can always retrieve the funds from FOX even if the folder(s) stop cooperation because the data is available (unlike Plasma).

Folders use the traces to generate zero-knowledge proofs for every circuit. The folders then send the aggregated proofs as well as the updated states to the L1 Contracts. The Folder is the core of the Fox system.
