Sorry, but I still fail to understand the logical reasoning behind putting the jam on first.
The clotted cream is analogous to butter in the scone world.

Devon has lost the scone wars. Basically everywhere in Britain uses the 'Cornish method' (i.e. jam first). Even in Devon itself, only 49% use the 'Devon method' (i.e. cream first), while 46% go jam first yougov.co.uk/society/articl…

@The_RHS I wonder if you can give some advice. We have a great magnolia grandiflora, but it has a spur from the bottom that is starting to squash other plants. We want to remove it, but worried about hurting the plant. What should we do?
