EA removed it all on purpose for a more 'streamlined' (controlled) experience, and also to limit the lifespan of the game.

@BenjiGameDev Rule #1: Don’t use AI, because it’s sourced unethically.
Rule #2: If you want to go the unethical route, at least be open about it.
Rule #3: Fuck you if you can’t align with Rule 1 and 2.

Hell yeah, @GOGcom! That‘s the way. But GOG Galaxy needs a better foundation to run FAST and not get in the users way. Right now, it‘s a slog and the integrations are not properly maintained.

@Gigabear_X @ALegendaryDrops @EpicGames @Steam @GOGcom Once established, feature parity on some areas and major improvements on others (modding / workshop / user created content).
GOG had THE killer-feature but decided to bury it, it was called „Steam Connect“ and allowed to unlock some games on GOG which you already owned on Steam.

@Gigabear_X @ALegendaryDrops @EpicGames @Steam … and THE 2 alternatives that could actually tackle @Steam haven‘t yet decided to do so. Going a user-first and convenience route is the way. @EpicGames and @GOGcom could achieve that - but both need a fast, sleek client / frontend that is not in the way of users first.

Epic and Steam compete for each customer and each sale. On some transactions, Epic wins. On more, Steam wins. But one thing is constant on every transaction: gamers and developers win by having more options and better deals.

@Gigabear_X @ALegendaryDrops @EpicGames @Steam Would I love to see @TimSweeneyEpic stop trying to jiggle his way into competitors userbases via lawsuits and instead sitting down with his development to to build an ACTUAL competitor with a „users first“ mindset? Sure. But he already decided that it‘s not worth it.

@Gigabear_X @ALegendaryDrops For 22% more than @EpicGames‘s cut, @Steam offers not just the playerbase but also features that I don‘t get with ANY other competitor.
If you look at it like this: „30% for a storefront“ - yeah, it looks shit. But not because 30% is much - because you ignore 95% of features.
