What more? He was a cop with a side business as an underwater welder. He took my cousin all over the world, they had a great time together. Finally confessed that he had a second family only because of a health insurance issue. She was devastated of course, but ended up remaining his bookkeeper for the business, and they are still friends. Everyone wanted the kids (who are adults now, with children of their own) to know and love each other as siblings, and they made that happen somehow. Even after the divorce, he continued to check in on his ex-mother-in-law (my great aunt) every day, and was a pallbearer at her funeral.

Reading about Leo Tolstoy's wife Sophia, and I think she deserves more attention: Sophia loved Leo beyond the point of an obsession. She had 13 babies with him. 5 died. I'm reading her diary from early in her marriage, and the entries are tragic.
