@OneBitOnePixel i know you use a Nikon Eclipse E200 and i am planning to pick my own microscope. what zoom / resolution do you think is required for getting a clear image of the die? i am looking at my options but want to make sure i buy something that will fit the purpose

Bought a Digimon. Judging by the circuitry around the microcontroller, it likely uses the same 4-bit Epson as in the Tamagotchi. If that's the case, making an emulator shouldn't be difficult.
