Bitcoin's hash rate hit an all time high 500 exahashes/s this month. To highlight the enormity of this number: - For every star in our galaxy, the Bitcoin network is calculating 5 billion computations per second. - It would take ~2000 years for the entire global population, each performing one hash/second, to match the Bitcoin network's hash rate. - The Bitcoin network performs ~67 times more hashes per second than there are grains of sand on Earth. - By number of raw operations/second, Bitcoin is ~500x more performant than the world's most powerful supercomputer. Yet, there are skeptics out there that still believe "bitcoin is backed by nothing".

Something remarkable is happening in GIFT City - the birth of the tax-free Family Investment Fund (FIF). Say, what now? FIF: A vehicle for rich Indian families to use GIFT as a tax-free launchpad to invest around the world. An FIF has to have a minimum capital of USD 10 million (about 82 crore). Now, to get money into GIFT, normally you have to go through LRS (capped at USD 250k per year). But a family-owned entity in India can send up to 50% of its net worth to the FIF. Why is it tax-free? Because business income gets a 10 year tax holiday in GIFT and an FIF can make investing its business. This is a new and untested provision and experts are cautious, but at least prima facie this arrangement looks possible. We need better critics in the space. The recent criticisms against Polygon make no sense. Polygon bought and built on top of existing tech rather than reinventing the wheel. Imagine thinking rebuilding the wheel everytime is somehow better and smarter lmao.
