@TimCham130668 @TimHutchings1 I speak with my friend @ChappellSteve at @UCSSPIRIT that make both Mondo and Bubka poles, and they are the same. He told me that a few years ago, Piotr Lisek arrived at Monaco DL without he poles, so just borrowed Sergey's old poles as they were similar size and flex to his own!

@TimHutchings1 Is this true? If so it’s staggering. I would have thought a discipline which requires the mechanical assistance of a fulcrum and a lever would be the first to benefit from technology, maybe it’s the shoes or the running approach wavelights..😉

@davechants @TimHutchings1 Actually, the tech that Mondo is using is EXACTLY the same at that used by Sergey Bubka 30 years ago, in fact Bubka's pole was longer and stronger than that used by Mondo, because he was faster on runway than Mondo. The actual UCS Spirit pole is exactly the same construction now.

@TimHutchings1 I agree it’s not fair to compare times, but it is not cheating, it’s inevitable progress. Duplantis would not vault 6m with an aluminium or bamboo pole. It just needs to be put into context.

Its not “cheating” per se, & I’m sure I’d have embraced this technology & all its benefits. But comparing times & performances achieved in this generation of shoes (Rd & Tr) with pre-c.2017 is meaningless. The loss of historical context is tragic, because it used to mean so much.

Congrats to Michael Carter and Seilala Sua on being named to the 2023 Collegiate Track & Field Hall of Fame Class🙌 Carter won 7 of 8 possible NCAA Shot titles. Sua won 4 consecutive NCAA Discus titles (97-00) and 3 Shot Titles. Well Deserved Call to the Hall👏👏👏 @USTFCCCA

@MJGold @cwaitzman28 The problem was that it was not even explored because it was a stated goal of the management "to get back on BBC". BBC still have WCs and Olympics, but no interest in domestic events. Commercial approach has been awful since they removed FastTrack after 2012 to bring "in house"

In the comments section- so many people are putting "It's for eccentric overload." How? I don't get it. The bands are pulling you up as gravity is pulling you down. They're an overspeed on the way up, how are they overspeed on the way down too? I'm missing something.

Question for trainers- What is the rationale behind band-assisted jumps where you launch super high? I like how they feel, but I’m not sure what we’re trying to achieve. Are they a progression or regression from normal squat jumps? It seems like a progression but they feel easier

@jeffturner @runmtsac @PrepCalTrack Officials should be on the inside of the run ups, so as not to impede the view of the Coaches. They need to enforce this! There should be cameras there anyway, and so not need officials sitting on the take off board!

@MJGold @cwaitzman28 This was why they were wrong to sign with BBC for no money or production. They would have been better working with Channel 4 or someone that would have supported more programming around entertainment and not just the events. Needs to be bigger and international to succeed.

@cwaitzman28 Title is a bit misleading. Article states that UKA are trying to sell the concept to help their money problems. But they don’t have a production company or a distributor for it. BBC passed on it. I would love to see it succeed.
