@senselessvoid all the push back i’m seeing on your thread seems to be conflating the analysis of the writing with an analysis of characters. they’re taking the writing at face value instead of questioning why things like consent violations are framed as romance.
English

@ifilmrcha it is, my god. but that’s the main politic coming out of thai gl so it does make sense.
English

@jayjayramble This.. but also.. most of the assisting screen writers it seems are.. women or femme presenting from what I can see. So that “written by a man” input doesn’t hold up.
English

@cahbuzelim real on the survival instincts and also that’s exactly how this show’s portrayal is harmful! it diminishes the real impact of this violence.
English

I WAS SAYING THAT TODAY, its not even midia literacy is human behaviour knowladge. Its only abuse if the guy yell and grab her arm? A person threat your job for a date is toxic as fuck
Its not from GR, a lot of shows i watch lately people can notice harmful actions
J*@jayjayramble
@grlkisserclub_ it looks like the argument is that what we’ve seen is different levels of abuse… but to me that’s a lot of the issue, they’re concentrating the “obvious” explicit abuse in random men while just flat out dismissing the more “subtle” abusive actions of the women.
English

@grlkisserclub_ and the show is telling us it’s okay bc the characters are (illogically) unbothered by it to the same degree they are with the men.
English

@jayjayramble Exactly that. & I was gonna add that but I ran out of space and forgot to complete my thought. Thanks moot! lol
But I wouldn’t even say it’s subtle.. to me, it’s quite on the nose but most are okay with it because they’re not watching the character, they’re watching the artist.
English

it’s not fundamentally different at all, actually. Abuse is abuse. We can’t say one is greater or worse than the other just because a woman is the perpetrator.
Tim@lovesicktim
I feel like it’s fundamentally different tho? The men are aggressive and seem to not care about consent or get what no means. The girls are toxic yes but nobody has taken advantage of anyone, nobody has been violent. At worst they’re leading people on and being mean
English

@jayjayramble why stop watching when u can shit on the shitty writing xx. honestly ur one of the few accounts that i follow who i can trust because ur critique is always on point.
English

@jayjayramble this show is just so fast paced (even the shots are) and its just small little buzz words thrown in to make sure the viewer is still watching, but theres nothing of any substance if you really think about it (other than jojo leaning into oppressive ideas)
English

not how it works!

J*@jayjayramble
really leaning into this “you are responsible for your own oppression” angle huh
English

@piporstee yea big on not understanding women, but also to me it feels like he’s mapping this almost caricature view of queer women onto these characters, rather than simply writing them as actual full humans. makes me wonder what he does understand…
English

@jayjayramble honestly while i have always thought his dramas have quite shallow messaging, i feel like this is the first drama ive watched where i just dont like any of the messaging at all, i feel like he just doesnt understand women enough to be writing this sort of thing
English

@piporstee i fully get why you and hevi and others view him as you do now cuz this is so nasty
English

@jayjayramble i feel like jojo is trying to push an agenda that part of leaving toxic relationships must also be done by the person stuck in it. the problem is he fails to understand the power imbalance (which he showed himself)
English

@piporstee and again equating open sexualization to liberation i’m gonna vomit
English

@jayjayramble this line genuinely made me feel sick, we can have her reclaim power over her life without trying to put the blame on her for the toxic relationship
English
