@EBoKnowss Is it bad to feel a little happy for Venezuela? It clearly meant so much to them and it seemed like USA didn’t give a shit the entire tourney

@jgault13 They keep saying this is not the end. I don’t understand why they believe any athletes would want to run at their meets in the future

@CitiusMag Crazy that you can lie to the AIU and they will take a year off your ban if you just eventually admit guilt

BREAKING NEWS: Marathon world record holder 🇰🇪Ruth Chepngetich BANNED for three years by the AIU following her admission to an Anti-Doping Rule Violations regarding the presence and use of Hydrochlorothiazide, which is a banned diuretic commonly used as a masking agent in doping. A brief timeline of the investigation: • March 14, 2025 – Chepngetich tested positive for HCTZ with a concentration of 3,800 ng/mL, far exceeding the WADA reporting threshold of 20 ng/mL. • April 16, 2025 – During her first AIU interview, Chepngetich was unable to explain the result. Investigators collected a full list of her supplements and medications, as well as physical samples and a forensic copy of her phone for analysis. • July 11, 2025 – The AIU confronted Chepngetich with suspicious material from her phone, suggesting potential intentional use. Lab analysis confirmed none of her submitted supplements contained HCTZ. • July 31, 2025 – Chepngetich changed her account, claiming she had been ill two days before the test and had taken her housemaid’s medication, unaware it contained HCTZ. She presented a photo showing Hydrochlorothiazide clearly marked on the packaging. The AIU did not accept this explanation as credible, citing recklessness and indirect intent. • August 22, 2025 – The AIU issued a Notice of Charge seeking a four-year ban based on indirect intent and lack of a credible explanation. Chepngetich admitted guilt and accepted the sanction within 20 days. As a result, the ban was reduced to three years under ADR 10.8.1 (early admission clause) The AIU will continue to investigate the suspicious material recovered from Chepng’etich’s phone to determine if any other violations have occurred. All of Chepngetich's results prior to March 14th, including the marathon world record, still stand.

@ChrisChavez You can’t blame the athletes who take advantage of a system that will allow them to change their lives for the better but there has to be some limit. NCAA should be for amateurs not 27 year olds who have already raced on the global stage.

Finally got around to reading this eye-opening piece from the Washington Post on how some U.S. universities are funding time trials in Kenya to recruit distance talent. These “Golden Ticket” races to an NCAA scholarship are totally reshaping college running. Then, I caught up on some of the cross country results from this past weekend. The scale of the Kenya to NCAA pipeline is staggering already. Looking at the results from the Cowboy Jamboree in Stillwater, Oklahoma. On the men's side, Town Hall (one of the recruiting services being used by these universities) had seven men in the top 10 – including three to New Mexico and two to Oklahoma State. On the women's side, Town Hall had five athletes in the top 10 – including three at Oklahoma State. Not faulting Kenyan athletes who are chasing life-changing opportunities. It’s more about the system. Schools are outsourcing recruitment overseas and the NCAA’s structure enables it. How much of NCAA XC is still about the growth of student-athletes or the growth of a globalized talent marketplace? Curious what people think.

A recruiting drive in Kenya is changing the face of U.S. college athletics as time trials have become bitterly competitive for runners seeking a way out of poverty. Critics call it “athlete trafficking.” wapo.st/4mrWzPR

@aiu_athletics To any casual endurance fans: These masking agents are being used by a lot of pros right now Very easy to evade detection when you can micro-dope and flush it out in 1/4 of the time Wait till you find out the shoe brands work with top athletes to optimize measurements…
