@tropotropotropo this discourse usually happens around games with tons of installments that run on anything though. stuff like persona, undertale, resident evil. like yeah youre not gonna play the shiny remake or Newest 70 Dollar Installment but you are doing yourself a favor by trying *anything*

I really don't understand why ppl are pretending this isn't true lol like yeah modern consoles and computer gaming setups and games are all pretty expensive now. That is reality. You can say pirate things all you want but you still need to be able to purchase something to run it

Very true I think a largely ignored aspect of this is that a lot of people just can't afford systems to run a lot of modern games now which is a pretty big problem of the industry and is why shit like games made in roblox become massively popular

I do think that playing old games with keyboard and mouse when they were meant to be played with a specific controller setup is anti-art
Playing Resident Evil 4 without the original control scheme is anti-art
Playing MGS2&3 without the pressure sensitive buttons is anti-art

I wouldn’t call myself an expert Touhou player, but it’s crazy how hard it’s to get used to playing Touhou on the steam deck. Anyone else felt this way playing in the steam deck?

@KeyJay115 i mean these could be fixed by an updated port, no need for remakes
but Remedy is probably going to totally integrate the Max Payne games with Alex Casey's story / the Remedy universe and it'll have modern Remedy's insane style so I'm looking forward to them anyway

These Max Payne ones are kinda needed honestly.
The games are antiquated on current PC hardware and require a fair amount of dicking around with in order to get working
They're also not available natively on current gen hardware either and I don't imagine a port is viable.

Speaking as someone with "a weird gore fetish" these scenes arent really that hot or pornographic. They are however kinda icky in the broader way of how these games take a badass woman protagonist and turns her into a vulnerable squishy torture toy for the animators.

The “you can be a fan of a game without playing it” argument reminds me that people don’t see games as art. It’s a medium built around personal engagement, that's what gameplay is, it’s what makes games what they are. Is it really that hard to acknowledge and respect that?
