Roh Haus, a visual art and production design studio, led the set design and spatial direction for the 2.0 mv posted this on their Instagram account 🔥🔥🔥👏👏👏💜 👀👀👀👀 This project reinterprets the spatial language of Oldboy within the art direction of a BTS music video. The aim was to translate an iconic cinematic work of its time into the visual language of a contemporary cultural icon @ bts.bighitofficial We approached the distinction between film production design and music video art direction with clarity. While film is grounded in narrative and emotional progression, music videos center on music, choreography, and the spatial design that supports performers’ movement. Accordingly, the space was conceived not merely as a backdrop, but as an active framework that supports and amplifies the performance. Lastly, we would like to express our sincere gratitude to @ pcwpcwpic and @ podo_______ for their kind support in allowing us to pay homage to this space.

Can’t help but be moved by the way that BTS has used this comeback to consistently point to these cultural monoliths - Arirang, the story of the Howard University 7, and now one of Korea’s greatest filmmakers. Makes that “not Korean enough” discourse look more idiotic by the day.

Moot was right in saying that ARIRANG was NOT intended to be a history of Korea. Arirang has always been about sharing our own stories, whether it's our cultural identity, where we come from, our aspirations, or letters to our loved ones. That is ARIRANG.
