US-led military action against Iran will have implications beyond the Middle East. For China, it may serve as a guidebook for how to conduct a successful decapitation strike against Taiwan’s senior leadership. My first piece since leaving the bureaucracy. lowyinstitute.org/the-interprete…

@ANZ_AU my husband has been on hold for more than 90 MINUTES awaiting assistance to unlock his account. Surely you can do better than that. That is not what I call #CustomerService

It only took 80 years. 😳 My grandmother Dame Enid Lyons and Dame Dorothy Tangney the first women elected to Fed Parliament finally immortalised in bronze in Canberra today. Let’s hope it doesn’t take another 80 to recognise other Australian women. A great way to start #iwd2023

@libby_lyons_aus Wonderful to see significant women represented, and I understand Lis Johnson was the figurative sculptor behind the project.

Magnificent sculptures. Magnificent women. The likeness of both women, and the flow of the dresses and the fluidity of these sculptures is a huge achievement and the work of the artist should be acknowledged.

@EVERALDATLARGE @NationalSeniors Thank you for sharing that lovely recollection of my grandmother and her work. I think you will like the statue and I know she would be humbled by the recognition 🧡

Hello Libby. One of the privileges of my life was to know your mother Dame Enid Lyons & work with her in establishing @NationalSeniors. She was an extraordinary human being. Next time I am in Canberra I will visit her statue & quietly convey my total respect for life well lived.

If women become less visibly present in the workplace than men, their efforts are less likely to be recognised and they are more likely to be excluded from tasks and roles that enhance their promotion prospects. @libby_lyons_aus
The Conversation - Australia + New Zealand@ConversationEDU

New data shows women are more likely to feel better about working from home than men, but it's more likely to see them overlooked for promotions. "Unless attitudes change, this downside [...] is likely to become more apparent," write experts from @UniMelb. bit.ly/3izIzs4

What a sad day. I sang for the Queen in March 1986 in Adelaide. Privileged to meet her on a couple occasions, including while a Senator. Regardless of your views on monarchy, she’s been an extraordinary leader, an unparalleled female leader. Hearts are heavy today.
