@willie_rennie It's sad that so many comments here and on similar posts from politicians are so aggressive. Says a lot about Scottish society.

The fishing sector is under real pressure from a lack of workers, spatial squeeze and increased fuel costs. I will keep working to find solutions to these challenges.

Spoke with the @lomondtrossachs Housing Pressures Group. One key question: What problem are we actually trying to solve? Housing supply, affordability, empty homes, sustaining communities, these are not the same issue. Short-term lets are a small part of the picture. Empty homes and second homes are a far bigger structural challenge. Yet policy is being considered without a clear evidence base or measurable outcomes. That is where risk lies. If we target the wrong drivers, we will not fix the problem. And we risk damaging compliant businesses, local economies, and trust in the system. Are we designing policy that works, or policy that just looks like action? @ASSCnews @st_alliance assc.co.uk/short-term-let… #Housing #Tourism #ShortTermLets #Policy

@COSLA Why doesn't the housing section doesn't mention the real cause of the shortage - much lower occupancy rates than in the past. See attached for solutions.

@COSLA Some relevant points in that article, but if Councils don't listen to their constituents (as happens in Argyll & Bute) and present complex budgets with only 1 hour forewarning, then it's a recipe for more disaster.

I support net zero, but it must be practical and fair. We can’t put thousands of North Sea workers out of jobs while importing the same oil from abroad. That’s not a transition, it’s self-inflicted damage.

@COSLA Market-aware policy isn’t optional – it’s essential. Scotland’s self-catering sector faces cost pressures, labour shortages, and changing visitor habits. Yet new regulation is often introduced without assessing cumulative impact. That must change.

The SNP government thinks the public are hanging on its every word when it comes to breaking up Britain. In fact, barely anyone is paying attention, and Scots have far greater priorities. dailyrecord.co.uk/news/politics/…

@_JamieMcIntyre Why are there still so many single track roads in Scotland? I don't see them in other countries, even poor developing countries.

The occasion of yet another Corran Ferry breakdown gives an opportunity to advise those not familiar with single-track roads that the perfectly executed passing place manoeuvre does not require *either* vehicle to come to a complete standstill.
