アニメ・マンガの海外での海賊版問題については、この方の言う通りなのだが、一方で以下の二点を足しておきたい。
1. 状況改善には、配信・販売・マーケティング・マーチャンダイジング・版権管理・決済を含めた日本独自のビジネス基盤が必要→これに関しては日本政府も理解していると思う。 2. アメリカ人のもつ大企業・大資本に対する不信感は日本のそれよりずっと強い。またアメリカにおけるオタク文化の底流にはある種の「パンクロック的」な既存のものへの抵抗心がある。 これらが海賊行為を肯定するものではないが、このような現実があるという認識は持った方が良いと思う。

Japanese and Western fan communities have developed under completely different, unique rules (or convenient interpretations). However, since these are fundamentally driven by our own desire to "enjoy the content" rather than protecting creators' profits or preserving culture, they aren't really noble enough to be called "ethics." Even with Japan's paid fan works, it is a fact that not all rights holders happily accept them; some simply turn a blind eye out of necessity. Just as you probably cannot truly accept the reasons why Japan tolerates paid fan works, Japanese people can never sympathize with or endorse the logic that "piracy is acceptable as long as it's non-profit," even if we can understand the theory behind it. Ultimately, these are somewhat selfish local rules that only apply within our respective communities. Bringing international copyright law into this won't solve anything. In a court of law, both of our justifications would simply be dismissed as "copyright infringement."

@onepercentdsgn Much of it comes down to trust. Americans don't trust companies in the US to treat Anime right. They often insert their own agenda or are more expensive for an inferior product.
I WANT to pay for Japanese products I can trust which do not undermine the original creators

これなー、永遠と議論されてるんだけど海外住んでると許せないけど意味はわかってしまうんだよな
先に言っておくと僕も作者や著作元に利益を生み出さなず、リスペクトもない海賊行為は絶対に許せない
しかし、残念ながらビジネスとして見ればCrunchyrollはバチバチにアニメの違法アップロードで何億というユーザーを獲得し、Sonyが約1,300億円という巨額の金額で買収した前例がある
作品を愛しているが海賊版しか見る手段がないという国外の人々に何も出来なかったために生まれてしまった悲しきモンスターがCrunchyrollだが、世界的日本の大企業がそれを買収し、大成功を収めてしまっているのだ
恐らく価値観は他の国においても皆似たりよったりだと思う、海賊版が出回るとその作者には一円も入らない、それでは次なる作品が生まれてこないと頭では理解しているんだと思う
ただ、いざ海外に住んでいると『なぜ日本は規制しかしないのだろう？』という疑問符も同時にあって、需要があるが配給はしない、まるで海外にいる連中には見る資格がないとでもいわんばかり、しかも海賊版ビジネスの成功例を日本企業が作っているわけだから、誰が悪いのかよくわからない話になってしまってると思う

As an example: I read Fate/stay night through piracy initially, but as soon as it was localized officially I bought multiple copies for my friends and I.
(Though before then I had spent thousands on merch lol)

I know it's really difficult to buy Manga and goods overseas. and those are more expensive than here in Japan.
so i hope at least they feel bad for reading piracy ,and hope it's solved in better ways in the future🤞
