The North didn’t “fail to develop” while Mt Kenya heroically built itself. It was underdeveloped by policy design – from Sessional Paper No. 10 to skewed budgets that favoured “high potential” regions and starved arid counties of roads, schools and hospitals. Blaming Northern leaders alone while defending more billions for already developed areas is dishonest ethnic populism. Facts are stubborn: historical marginalisation is real, and using lazy stereotypes to lock poor kids out of national schools is not protection, it’s greed in a suit.

50+ years of National Government investment and infrastructure is what these other regions have had on top of devolution. Our region had to start from “ground Zero” with devolution unlike the rest and especially MT Kenya which enjoyed state sponsor over the years. Compare strictly what devolution has done in that region and the north and you will see the stark difference. Someone has had all school infrastructure done years ago and all he does is cabro and flowering — we don’t have that luxury because we are still unable to finish the basics due to years of neglect.
HE. Capt. Ali Ibrahim Roba, EGH, MP@aliiroba

History recalls a powerful metaphor from the French Revolution, attributed rightly or wrongly to Marie Antoinette. When informed that the people of Paris were protesting because they had no bread, she is said to have responded, “Why don’t they eat cake?” “Let them eat cake” was privilege blinded by abundance. When leaders mock Northern Kenya for lacking skyscrapers, they erase Kenya’s truth: almost all glittering national infrastructure national schools, colleges, and industries was built for other regions, while our region was left behind for over 50 years under colonial rule and 60 years post-independence. Devolution found devolved sectors virtually non-existent, forcing pioneer governors to resuscitate everything from scratch. And we went further. Using devolution funds, we built technical training colleges (a national government function), teachers’ training college (national), medical training college (national), urban roads in Mandera town (national), paid for KPR (national), and supported national security infrastructure not because we had money to spare, but because insecurity made it an inevitable necessity; without these interventions, our counties would have been left ungovernable. Northern leaders are not perfect, but no one has moral authority to ridicule us unless they can objectively compare devolution investments alone across regions. I guarantee you: remove decades of national government investment elsewhere, and there is very little to compare with what Northern Kenya built through devolution alone. youtu.be/vJbxx7Om1Xo?si… @NationAfrica @StandardKenya @KTNNewsKE @CitizenTVKenya @ntvkenya @K24Tv @TheStarKenya @PeopleDailyKE

Press statement in response to Rigathi Gachagua ( Former Deputy President): IMMEDIATE PRESS RELEASE: We strongly condemn the reckless and unacceptable statements by former Deputy President Rigathi Gachagua, which have taken Somaliphobia to an alarming level. His attacks on Somali owned businesses are borne out jealousy, envy and hatred. They amount to ethnic profiling, misinformation, and deliberate attempts to divide Kenyans. The Somali community have conducted business together with other communities from the colonial period to today, forming one of the most trusted and resilient commercial partnerships in Kenya. It is therefore irresponsible and dangerous for any leader to try and create enmity between communities that have coexisted and prospered together for generations. The attempt to link BBS Mall to alleged Minnesota fraud is entirely false. BBS Mall is the result of years of hard work, careful planning, and legal, transparent investment by its owners. The owners are globally respected businessmen. This business was mooted long before HE President William Samoei Ruto came to power. The project took over nine years to complete and has created jobs, contributed to government revenue, and supported local communities. This magnificent mall has elevated Kenya to new global and international heights. Our silence should not be taken for fear. The Somali community are not anyone’s quest in Kenya, and we will not shy away from defending them against reckless and divisive utterances. Rigathi Gachagua is smarting from the impeachment and remains bitter. When he was Deputy President, all was well, including praising the same people he now attacks, showing that his actions are personal and politically motivated rather than factual. Kenya’s leaders and citizens must reject attempts to criminalize success or target businesses based on ethnicity. Somali owned enterprises, like all Kenyan businesses, strengthen the economy, create employment, and promote national development. Kenya is a nation built on unity, enterprise, and opportunity. No community should be turned into a political punching bag. END. North Eastern Leadership:

While I do no want to wade through the merits and demerits of the recognition of Somaliland, it’s rather unfortunate that Israel accused of Genocide and violating all existing International laws can have the moral compass of such pronouncements. Let them also say the same of Palestine which is next door. Somaliland has many friends that they can turn to but not to one that has been condemned worldwide. Run from them.
Prime Minister of Israel@IsraeliPM

The Prime Minister announced today the official recognition of the Republic of Somaliland as an independent and sovereign state. Prime Minister Netanyahu, Foreign Minister Sa'ar, and the President of the Republic of Somaliland signed a joint and mutual declaration.

Saba Saba is all about the rich history on matters multiparty democracy. The clamor for change of one party system to multiparty democracy system is what Saba Saba advocated for. And that multiparty democracy is right here with us since 1992. This commemoration has nothing to do with Gen Zs protest or public demonstrations/protests. The RV for Saba Saba has been Kamukunji grounds. Designated. NOT on the streets. NOT in the counties. Sadly I see one Hon. Kalonzo Musyoka advocating for tomorrow’s Saba Saba and yet he was one of the die hard KANU one party system defender in those times - he should be the least person to talk about Saba Saba. Leave it to those who were in the trenches then to lead.

Israel has ‘disappeared’ nearly 400,000 Palestinians in Gaza since 2023. Half of them are children. Buried beneath rubble. Dumped in mass graves. Erased. Harvard has now confirmed what we’ve been screaming into a deaf world: This is a holocaust — and it’s still happening.

Have you noticed how quickly #Israel can come to an agreement for a #Ceasefire with a Country that can fight back? But when it’s a Country with innocent Women, Children, Civilians & No Military it’s not possible! What’s happening in #Gaza is NOT a #War it’s an #Extermination!

“Kill me, the war won’t end.” — Ayatollah Khamenei “I’m old, my body is weak. But this fight isn’t mine — it belongs to Iran’s youth. You’re not fighting a man, but a nation defending its dignity.” The West fears an Iran with power, not because it threatens peace — But because it threatens their monopoly on it.
