@pediadatrician I made the RN>MD switch, now an IM/EM resident. While having a program would help support many nurses make the transition, I agree with @responsiblekare that admission guarantee admission isn’t the right road. Non-healthcare folks who’d be great doctors are never accepted either

@MSaphenous I applied EM/IM, with both EM and IM as back ups. I am a Canadian IMG and wanted to apply broadly to help my chances. I matched EM/IM at my favourite program last year. DM me if I can help in any way!

How common is dual applying? I have my heart set on a specialty but i’m not confident about my competitiveness so I’m wondering if I should have a “back-up.” But am I splitting my efforts too much/would it be better if I just applied to my main IDK SOS

@BethGay45 As an IM/EM resident, I love seeing the two specialties coming together in this thread. As corny as it may be to say, teamwork makes the dream work!

Thoughts of an IM resident on an off service EM block: 1) Holy wow EM providers are seeing a stunning volume of patients. I have no idea how they juggle so many patients at such variable stages in their workups and in acuity. It makes my head spin to try and keep up.

Lol us roasting the CDC ain’t “creating mistrust” the CDC changing guidelines to appease corporate America creates mistrust. They are appropriately getting roasted by those who gave the biggest risk: the HCW they don’t give a shit about.

I came out to my mom tonight and told her about my girlfriend and it went horribly. She called me disgusting and told me she’s ashamed and embarrassed of me. I have never felt worse about myself.
