last week i added storybook to opencode so that we can better build out our design system kit has been showing me what's possible by adding detailed controls to simulate scenarios more effectively and accurately we'll continue to build this out for improved experiences

whenever people talk about "shipping speed" they focus on 0 to 1 but what actually matters is how fast the team is still shipping a year into the project this is why everyone seems like they "ship fast" but nothing actually seems to be getting done

@samwhoo This seems like what @nicbarkeragain is on about in his new video teaching effort. Each new thing needs to be close enough to your current knowledge map to be able to connect back and expand the "knowledge island".

This is an axiomatic belief I have that I carry with me in all of my writing: you can learn anything if the material is presented in the right order for you.

@marcusstenbeck @pikuma @fahrudotme Which Pikuma courses have you bought and which one would you recommend? I’m really interested in the Compilers & Interpreters, and C++ 2D Game Engine.

Most teaching content out there is not made for students; they were created to benefit the author.

I don't think I'll ever be okay with the fact that a multiplexer and a demultiplexer do the opposite of what I was expecting from them just based on their names. 😔

@nicbarkeragain That’s why I never vibed with AI stuff, or even backend. The feedback loop of UI is just too addictive for me!

That being said there are certain kinds of hell that I can't deal with either, specifically things with a very slow debugging loop. Working on CI pipelines with the "try something | wait 20 minutes | see error message" flow is where I draw the line these days 😅

I've heard people say things like "I'm not smart enough to be a programmer", but IMO intelligence isn't that important. Only one thing matters: when you finally fix a bug after 4 days and the root cause is stupid, are you excited to continue, or do you want to jump out a window?

@pikuma Sounds like the right thing to do. Honestly, I feel the same about the need to learn Blender... and Vim.

@marcusstenbeck I've decided to: 1. I'm using Davinci Resolve to quickly create this animation I mentioned 2. I have also decided that I need to properly learn Blender eventually, given that I've been working with people that use Blender my whole life & I never properly learned it. It's time.

Hey everyone! Let's say I have an old video lecture recorded and I want to add an animation overlay on top of that video to show the effect of current moving in the correct direction. What is the best software for this type of thing?

Between the game physics course constant use of the term "penetration" and the new course now constant use of the word "holes" I'll probably need to set my lectures as R-rated.

@pikuma If you could somehow get the motion tracking data you could then use Manim or Motion Canvas to make the animations.

@pikuma You might've already solved this, but you'll need two things: 1. Some way to produce the animation you want 2. Motion tracking After Effects, Blender and Davinci Resolve (Fusion) all do those things. You usually do (2) first, then apply the tracked points to (1).
