It was a delight to help @mattstauffer understand the inner workings of LLMs. Thoroughly enjoyed talking about why I don't think "spicy autocomplete" is the right way to think about LLMs.
pragmaticaifm@pragmaticaifm

Are LLMs “just a smarter autocomplete”? In this episode, @samwhoo walks through why he thinks it's more than that, and teaches us what’s actually happening inside AI models—parameters, embeddings, vector search, and the ways models learn. share.transistor.fm/s/61ffa70c

I really enjoyed (hated?) @samwhoo’s jsdate.wtf and thought it would be fun to create a version using Temporal, I did, but then realized all the answers using Temporal are “Throws an error”

In which I tormented my boss by making him use a custom self-improving agent harness for 2 weeks because I thought it would be fun content (it is fun content, you should read it.)
Joel Hans@endentire

I built bmo, a coding agent designed to improve itself at runtime. Together, we've solved oodles of problems, built 11 new tools, collected tons of tool call telemetry, changed batteries… and invented an elaborate system for procrastinating. ngrok.com/blog/bmo-self-…

Another little Liveline update: multi-series support. You can now have multiple overlapping lines in one chart with per-series toggles. Same smooth loading transitions, time windows, etc. ~npm i liveline

Re: “SaaS is dead, people will just build their own”. People fundamentally do not want to “own” software. They do not want to manage developers, or an AI, let alone build it themselves. They do not want to be responsible for mistakes. Nor do they have the mental capacity away from day to day work and Tiktok to build/maintain the tools that run their company — it’s just not a good model of how commerce is done. BAD businesses try to do everything themselves. Can I run Postgres myself? Sure. Is it better to have @PlanetScale do it. Of course because I can yell at @samlambert when things go wrong. There’s almost too many arguments to make against your statement which is why it’s so tiring. We can now build MORE software and deliver it to MORE people BETTER. That should be the focus.

@jessethanley Please elaborate.
