#isles I like Aitcheson and he's improving his skating rapidly. But no, it's far from wrong to consider trading him as part of a package. Schaefer is unreal. Romanov is songed longterm and so is Pelech. Aitcheson is years away. If you can move him as part of something to get another piece - you have to consider it. And I think the hate he got for the tournament is unjustified. It was his first time playing man to man and Canada's team defense was atrocious top to bottom. They were as poorly coached as Team USA was.

#isles Seriously, does anyone know when, if ever, a NHL team picked 5 or 6 times in the first round - total between back to back drafts?

@islanders_takes Take Schaefer and don't look back. Also, there is no need to rush things now because next years draft is loaded. You can get 2 forwards that are as good or better than what is there this year without moving assets. Feel good stories don't win cups.

#isles Whoever becomes GM - I don't want them to be sentimental and emotional or craft stories. I want them to get the best players they can get, go full meritocracy, and take advantage of the fact they don't have relationships with these players. It's wild to me how fans can scream about "country club" mentality and want to eject these emotional connections as damaging to the team's identity and then suddenly want to empty the cupboard of picks and players to draft a guy who likely fell out of the Top 3 in a very weak draft because he's from Long Island. Pick a lane.

@islanders_takes Couldn't agree more. While theyneed to move on from aging players, they are also the ones that are most consistent in their jobs. They need to tread carefully when replacing them for younger players.

#isles Really encouraged to see this - but he has to actually deliver. The franchise is in a pretty perilous spot if it doesn't execute a proper retool. Things are better than they were after the deadline. But there's a lot of work to do.

#Isles QUESTION FOR ALL: IF Lou Lamoriello re-signs Brock Nelson instead of trading him for a first round pick + another asset (prospect or young player), what would be the contract terms you’d be OK with for Brock (who’s 34 next season)? For example, 3 years x $6 million per? No more than 4 years? 2 years? What about annual cap hit? You name the terms. Also OK to draw your line in the sand and say NO contract is OK and all you want is a trade of this very good veteran to build for NYI future. At this time, I’m not open to “trade him and hope to re-sign him in summer.” 😊That doesn’t happen much and is not useful for this survey. As my PR friend says, Hope is not a strategy. So what’s your contract to keep Brock an Islander?

I have to address this. The shear pettiness and disrespect some of you Panthers fans have shown toward me and my family is honestly UNMATCHED. It’s funny since the panthers have been my second fave team since I moved to FL 10 years ago. I’ve been to many Panthers games, but the rude and inappropriate behavior, comments, and messages toward me are completely out of pocket. I’m so put off. It’s a fucking game.
